CriticalThought:
GEJ is not the real problem here, the real problem are the people blocking his way. The importers of generators, those who fix it, those who sell the spare parts, lets not forget those supplying the needed fuel to run it. They will forever continue to fight those who try to change the status quo. Until those who lobby against constant electricity are stripped of their power, candle and generator is the way forward
I would want to believe the likes of mikano and co would make more money obtaining a licence to generate power in the country except the country where the generators are been produced bribe the govts in Nigeria so they can keep the jobs in their country.

It is rather pathetic how gullible Nigerian youths can get!

I am sure that up to 70% of people on this forum are graduates or possess some form of formal education. Is it not embarrassing that people are unable to do basic deductive reasoning but are keen to allow themselves be manipulated by mischievous elements?

It is now customary for Punch Newspapers to quote the President out of context by running articles/write-ups pertaining to the President with misleading/spurious captions.

In this article under consideration, Jonathan posited that he has fulfilled his electioneering promise of PRIORITISING the issue of power supply in Nigeria. The Presideent went forward to buttress his assertion with supporting evidence but alas mischievous journalists in Punch twisted the well-intentioned assertion to suggest that Jonathan was saying that he has achieved all his set targets in power supply in Nigeria.

Even with the absurdity of this supposition by the unseen hands in Punch Newspapers, Nigerian youths who should possess some scintilla of critical thinking swallowed the trashy reportage line, hook and sinker!

The problem here is more profound than we think...

You are still referring to same publication;reason why I'm asking is that I have people both at Olorunsogo and Omotosho. OBj commissioned plant without gas line feed.
OBj commissioned Phase 1 then and Phase 2 was close to completion but the last time i checked production dropped to 60MW against 300MW because only 2 of the 8 turbines are working and also gas supply to the turbine is a big issue

Thanks for being honest sir, as of today at least 6 turbines are working and revenues are being generated by Gas supplier. We will get there.

Re: I Have Fulfilled My Promise On Power Sector - Jonathan by Alaanyihaji(m): 7:43pm On Feb 20, 2015
Men, lets give him benefit of doubt. These are human beings talking and they are not God. The truth every well meaning Nigerian will agree is that the government is on a steady progress on the power sector roadmap. If not in an area where distribution Transformers have peculiar problems, availability of power has improved slightly.
SuperModerator:
GEJ said before the end of his first term, we will have constant power supply

Now, he is saying in 2 years time

His minister for power Chinedu Nebo said having constant power supply is not possible in the next 6 years.

Who is fooling who huh

Nigerians are gullible sha

As i type, i am contemplating closing down my business of more than two years as i enjoy on the average only one hour power supply to my business as a result i spend half of my profit of fueling my generator and repair. In my vicinity where i do business, virtually all businesses have closed down. Here we are and the lying president is spilling rubbish.Nigerians deserve more than this.

Yes oooo. The problem is with the distributors and so called private sector

GEJ till 2019.

Besides, this is my 1994 th post on nairaland and the year 1994 is very significant to me so I here by dedicate this space to all my friends out there and my nairaland peeps, both the foolish and wise ones!

One love
Let me not insult you because you are ignorant.... let me educate you a bit

The problem is not with the distribution company... Electricity is a commodity that cant be stored.. you must consume electricity as its produced. if the guys at the distribution refuse to supply available power, the system will collapse similarly, if the distribution guys attempt to supply more than what is generated, the system will also collapse..
so at every time Power generated = Power Consumed( load demand)

It is said that Nigerians don't read. The posts am seeing in this thread justifies that. How long will it take to read the story as published?

Meanwhile he is correct. He promised to give power attention and he did. Never said he delivered 100% power 24/7.

Pls stop portraying Nigerians as lazy or half illiterate people.

Brov....if power sector was gej campaign priority and we still have worse like this...bro, what will u say to less prioritized campaign projects.

Maybe he cud have done all these since last year, we cud av verified if they aint all fakes e.g 1964 warship,
sunnyflakes:
I AM SHOCKED BY THE KIND OF RESPONSES I AM READING. THE PRESIDENT ONLY SAID HE HAD FULFILLED HIS CAMPAIGN PROMISE OF MAKING THE POWER SECTOR TOP ON HIS PRIORITY.

WHAT DIDN'T YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND IN HIS STATEMENT. AT LEAST HE DIDN'T SAY HE HAS GIVEN US 10,000 MEGA WATTS. EVEN AT THAT IT IS UNDENIABLE THAT GAINT STRIDES HAVE BEEN TAKING BY THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION IN THE POWER SECTOR. MOST GENERATING PLANTS AND TRANSMISSION LINES BEING CONSTRUCTED HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND COMMISSIONED UNLIKE OBASANJO'S GOVERNMENT THAT SPENT 16BILLION DOLLARS IN THE POWER AND HAD NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT.

This Man called GEJ self, him case don tire me seriously.
It is ok he said he has fulfilled his promise on power, it is left for the electorate to decide if the current power situation is good for them or bad.
I am no longer disturbing myself about GEJ i am just waiting for March 28th to decide.
