What is there to compared, the most important thing is that, onitsha, nnewi and awka have existed before the creation of state thing..

Do yu call awka a city,it s the same with orlu and when yu talk of nnewi, that s my mother town, and it s not all nnewi that s city, bro, it s only nnewi north that s more urbanised than nnewi south, truth be told..

In regards to eket, uyo and ikot ekpene,i have been there and i ve stay there,
the governor of the state, godswil akpabio, only focus more development in uyo and little concerns in ikot ekpene, meanwhile eket is left abandon,
although, eket, uyo and ikot ekpene have been a city right from time,
orlu ,okigwe and owerri, are stil coming up..
There is nothing wrong if the governors decide to focus first on owerri before thinking on what to do with okigwe nd orlu,
which will certainly developed with time and pls stop the comparison cos each state with her own pace..

Pls get my drift: an Imo governor doing some eye-catching projects in the state capital, but extends a few roads outside the state capital: that may make the next governor of Imo state after Rochas Okorocha to continue in that trend; and even pocket the money meant for infrastructural development in the rest of 26 Imo LGAs; and we keep clapping for developments in Owerri.

There is everything 100% wrong in Imo state "governors decide to focus first on owerri before thinking on what to do with okigwe nd orlu." Remember the governors have done this since 1976; about 39 years since Imo state was created.

In the past three years or so, Orlu for example, has been depopulated with migration to Owerri. If we continue like this, there may not be space in future in Owerri.

Bro i can understand yur drift, but yu ve to understood our own part,
before rochas become a governor of imo state, i guess he has thought about how he want owerri to look like and how he want imo state to be,
so if he engage more on owerri 4 now,i guess he s doing that according to his own masterplan about owerri?
Like me if i become a governor one day,i wil want to extend, built companies/industries and also enlarge owerri as a city in order to attract peoples and investors..
We cant deny that orlu is neglected, cos rochas is working there tirelessly,
the only place that seem abandoned to me is okigwe, and i wish if d next governor frm there,he will work on it,
that s what godswil akpabio frm akwa ibom did,he developed more of uyo and little of ikot ekpene and neglected eket,
but promised to bring a governor from eket zone..

Lets be patient,imo is moving forward,that i believed..cool

You got it right.

I add: but for Udenwa's projects in Orlu, the town would have remained a glorified village, even with whatever development project Rochas Okorocha has done in Orlu till date.

I can show pictures of up to 20 standard towns in Imo State with good roads and viable businesses. The reason is to burst the falsehood being peddled against Imo State. Heineken consolidated breweries is located in Oru and so is Jacobs wine.

iheanacho came at the wrong time,it s rochas or a man frm my place, ifeanyi ararume or nuttin else..

yu should gv rochas a chance, like i said,b4 he become a governor,he had thought of how he want owerri to look like and once he is done, there may be a high focus on orlu, thank God he s frm orlu zone.
let s be patient ,the development is a gradual process, and orlu cannot transform to dubai overnight,
dont denied it,rochas is stil working in some part of orlu road,
bros travel round and confirm by ursef.

I love Oguta.

There is one laughable experience I had in Oguta around September 2010 regarding political leadership in Imo state. I packed my car then close to one of the boat take-off points on Oguta lake and asked one Okada boy to take me to where then Imo governor Ohakim was building the well-publicized Oguta Wonder Lake Resort. That period, there were many many SUVs driven by PDP people and marked Oguta Wonder Lake Resort.

The Okada boy looked at me twice and laughed. He said wait. I waited and wondered why he laughed away. After a few minutes, he came back with another Okada man; in front of me he asked the second Okada man if he knew where Ohakim was building the Lake Resort. After a few seconds, they burst into laughter and said {oga, there is no such hotel or resort undergoing construction by Imo state government in Oguta. Many people like you come here to ask similar questions}.

One of these days, I shall return to Oguta to see the state of the Marine University promised there about two years ago by Gov. Okorocha.

Created on 3 February 1976 when East-Central State was divided into Anambra (Enugu capital) and Imo (Owerri capital) states.

Then 1991 from part of Imo State[Abia was created] since 1976 to 1991 the developmental project was blw Imo and Abia State

1991 from part of Anambra State[Enugu was created] since 1976 to 1991 the developmental project was blw Anambra and Enugu State

So man put your record straight for future generation ok

Certain: so long as too many Imolites, including their governors, continue to believe that every important infrastructural development in Imo state must be in Owerri, and that discussions about Imo state must revolve only about Owerri, so long Imo state must continue to be least developed among the states created same time with it in 1976 - as it is now.

Neighbouring Anambra state created many many years after Imo state now has three evidently large and urbanized cities like 'Osha, Nnewi and Awka;

Akwa Ibom state prides itself with large modern cities like Uyo, Eket, Ikot-Ekpene etc;

but Imolites are always peeing on their trousers about Owerri, Owerri, and Owerri. With this attitude, Imolites drive all their governors into doing "showmnaship" development only in Owerri for four years - and even more.

Owerri started being state capital since 1976, that's the point made.

Since that 1976, funds that should have gone to provide development infrastructures in entire Imo state of then and now were being mostly deployed on development in Owerri alone - at the negligence of infrastructural development in the entire Imo state. This ugly situation exists only in Imo state, and must be condemned and stopped; that's the message I brought.

Point of correction
No you got it wrong not Owerrri alone there was development in Aba as commercial center of the old Imo state then and and some institutions within Abia old Imo state university now in uturu both Michael okpara university of Agriculture umuahia there was general development
That time the major cities in Imo state Umuahia,Aba and Owerri.

ok let me ask you this Awka the capital of Anambra now and Onitcha the commercial center which one is more developed?

As a suggestion imo state can create multi compuses in different towns to solve the problem of over centralization.

Yes Donatus Awka is a city and it is more decently developed than Owerre that has only brothels as its pride. Awka is the fastest developing city east of the niger.

Orlu is more or less like Ekwulobia.

Nnewi by all standards is far more developed than Orlu. Okigwe is a complete slum settlement.

Owerre is filled with old ikwerre-type-house settlements, there is no meaningful thing in that town.

You people should reason like millionnairman because he appears very realistic with genuine intentions for imo state to find its bearing.
