I am not a politician, but I am a friend of General Muhammadu Buhari and the things that have been said about this exceptional Nigerian will make the stomach of anyone who truly knows him sour. Nigerians cannot stand up to him when it comes to character and integrity. It therefore appalls me when people whose only credentials are that the Economic and Financial Crimes, Commission (EFCC) has stopped chasing them around because they know how to double speak now have the audacity and effrontery to question the character of a man like General Buhari.

I do not make a joke of it when I say General Buhari is an exceptional Nigerian and an incident which I want to share here with Nigerians gave me that conviction a long time ago and greatly influenced my own life as a public servant.

I lived in the United Kingdom in the 90s and in the late 90s I was encouraged to return to Nigeria by my friend General Buhari. It also coincides with when he was Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF). I used to spend most of my time in Nigeria with him and his family and I noticed that his two grown daughters who were undergraduates at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, were always at home because of the unending strikes in Nigerian universities at the time.

I did not like the situation so on one of my visits I got the prospectus and brochures of some educational institutions in the United Kingdom and decided to encourage him to send these kids to institutions in the UK, where they could school without interruption.

Because of how busy he was at the time, it sometimes took days to find a moment alone with him, so I finally did find a moment alone with him, and I brought up the issue of his kids always being at home on strike and suggested his sending them to the U.K to school. I quickly brought out the brochures and prospectus and I believed I made a very strong case.

He then asked me what the cost would be and thinking the cost would not be an issue since I was speaking with the head of one of the most powerful and richest institutions in the country at the time (as well as a former Head of State of Nigeria), I boldly opened the cost pages of the brochures and tried to work out the cost to him.

What he said at the time stunned me. General turned to me and asked me where I expected him to get that kind of money and I could not believe the question as I am sure many Nigerians will not believe. First, I could not believe that as PTF chairman, he would find the school fees an issue. Afterall, he was presiding over what was unarguably the richest public institution in the country at the time and others in his shoes would have found a way to “afford” it from their public offices. But not General Buhari. What he did at the time made me see him as an exceptional Nigerian and you are all free to confirm or verify this. General Buhari sold the only property he owned in Victoria Island at the time and it was with that fund that he sent his kids to school.

I do not know of many Nigerians who as PTF Chairman would have done what he did and, from then on, General Muhammadu Buhari became my hero and the epitome of integrity and honesty in public office to me.

The General Buhari I know will never come out to claim a qualification he does not possess and for charlatans and people of questionable character to call for his arrest for forgery is a great insult to honesty itself. I know that Nigeria has become a country where anything goes, but insulting our heroes because of politics should not be one of them.

This is just one instance, as there are several instances that I can cite here, but time and space will not permit me.

So, let’s put politics aside and celebrate our heroes, because I do not know of any man of greater integrity than General Muhammadu Buhari (GMB).

Dr. Noble Abe

That does not translate to Buhari solving Nigeria's problems!
Buhari cannot improve the power situation in the country. He cannot improve the economy! Why? The people around him are kleptomanics!
Everybody knows this, so let's stop deceiving ourselves with the word 'change'.

Man borrows 27million to buy presidential ticket, his wife donates 135million to the needy

Buhari's poverty tales dont always add up.

Hw did he in the first place get the property which is supposedly worth millions.??

Which other propert(ies) did he have to sell to MAINTAIN them in school??

His time at d PTF was a litany of crass hipocrisy because it turned out PTF was one of d conduits for embezzlement of public funds by govt officials.

Save your story for your almajiri. Its wasted on me.

If your claim is true why hasn't he been indicted yet? Are you saying Obj, Yar Adua and GEJ have been too clueless to investigate and indict him? Open your eyes man.

Most of you have turned the word almajiri into a derogatory term yet you keep chanting that GEJ built so so and so number of almajiri schools. Brother it is not too late to amend your ways.

Did Fashola perform incredibly well in Lagos in terms of power, education and health?

Was Ameachi adjudged the best governor in Nigeria as a result of his performance in Education, Agriculture, Health, Infrastructure and Job Creation?

Is Buhari the person who will assume office if APC wins election?

If you honestly answer yes to any of the questions above then all I can tell you is Nigeria will be in better and safer hands if Buhari wins.

Use your brain if you value it. His wife didn't donate 135 million she donated drugs worth 135 million which she never told you that she bought with her own money. When politicians and their surrogates donate goods and gifts in kind it is solicited from the manufacturers of those goods most of the time which they are glad to do as part of their corporate citizenship projects. Also Buhari did not apply for a loan, he was granted an overdraft agreement by his bank on personal recognition. Get your facts straight before your talking points.

Lack of indictment doesnt indicate innocence.

I used almajiri, because they are Buhari's normal audience. This is the first election where his campiagn has reached out to all d strata of d society so he really needs to update his act.

Jonathan has done brilliantly well in his six years of ruling this country, but he has not been blowing his trumpet enough!
Amechi is only crying wolf because he was not getting as much as he wanted in PDP. He is not interested in the masses. His problems with PDP started with Bamanga Tukur.
Fashola has done well in Lagos, but he can't swear with Sango that he is a corrupt-free.

OP, you people should stop exposing the financial ineptitude of Buhari;
If Buhari with mouth watering pension as former head of state can not organise his life, how would he be able to organise Nigeria?
As chairman of PTF, even his official pay and allowances can comfortably take care of his needs.
His salary and allowances as head of state could have solved his financial problems.

Buhari has no reason to be 'poor'. With his various appointments, his official salaries and allowances are enough to live a comfortable life.

Buhari must be a financial wreck not to manage his finances well. I fear he will mismanage Nigeria big time.

Bode George was indicted and GEJ gave him presidential pardon

Alamiesegha was indicte and also given presidential pardon to go contest for senate.

Lucky Igbinedion was indicted

James Ibori was indicted

All of them were found guilty. But is GEJ really serious about fighting corruption by granting pardons to close allies?

It takes honesty and integrity to stand for what is right. History and the story told by Dr. Abe above shows that Buhari has both traits. I can't say the same thing about GEJ. Please give Buhari your vote. Thanks.

I'm not disputing the specifics, I'm more concerned with his childish posturing as a poor man.

135 million worth of drugs by companies we are yet to identify. Only a handful of companies woud make such a donation without including it in their CSR.

But it turned out dat there is no such thing. The money for d drugs came from APC states. Mrs Buhari raised a whooping 135 million from APC for her charity bt cant raise 27 million for her husband because he wants to convince us he is poor.

I dont know what school u attend(ed) but overdraft is a form of loan. You might want to google it.

it sounds stupid when you read efforts by APC spin doctors to paint this cheat called Buhari white.Initially they told us Buhari had only a Building, which is in Daura Katsina, later i learnt his country home is in Abuja, now this national clown tells us how 'Mr intergrity'sold his V.I house to fund his daughters school fees...thankGod he is in London now and we hope he stops by at Cambridge to collect his ordinary school cert. So called'Mr intergrity decided to send his kids abroad for educatn by the prompting of his friend, while he cant use his high office at PTF to get Sani Abacha to listen to the request of ASUU and save poor Nigerians whose kids where wallowing at home,or even so,resign his position from the tyranical regime of Abacha.
less i forget,he said Abacha who carted away billions of dollars and kept it in Swiss bank,Qatar,Bahrain,Dubai etc wasnt corrupt. Can someone define corruption for Buhari?
