If you don't understand why those who are in Abuja don't want to return and those who want to go are doing so at all cost, look at this information.

* Hardship Allowance (50% of B.S) - N1,242,122.70
* Constituency Allowance (200% of B.S) - N4,968,509.00

In terms of lawmakers’ salaries as a ratio of GDP per capita, the gap is even much wider. While the salary of a Nigerian lawmaker is 116 times the country’s GDP per person, that of a British member of parliament is just 2.7 times.

The average salary of Nigerian worker based on the national minimum wage is N18,000.00, So, the yearly salary is N18,000.00 x 12 = N216,000.00 ($1,333.00)
Remember, Yearly Salary of Nigerian Senator = $2,183,685.00.
Proportion: $2,183,685.00/$1,333.00 = 1,638
It will take an average Nigerian worker 1,638 years to earn the yearly salary of a Nigerian Senator.

We are always chasing shadows in this our beloved con3. I have never seen a civil society group that try to mobilize nigerians on issues like this.
Rather they discuss issues like PEJ's gramma, tinubu's mouth odour,false missing $20billion etc.
This is thiefing. how can an individual be earning that much for just talking and responding ai and nay.

And who might be prepared to do something about it?
Who WILL bell the cat?
Who CAN bell the cat?

This matter came up in 2011 presidential debate, and this is what GMB said, "... we shall find a way to persuade them to accept much less".

We will. We must.

Love Nigeria more than your pecuniary benefits, which are transient.
Reject the tyranny of the few over the many, which the present system not only condones but nurtures.
North or South, christian or moslem, we are all bound by a common destiny in one nation.
Let's determine to salvage our destiny. Vote wisely.

Compare those nations GDP/salaries and its proof that Nigeria is more about consumption than productivity.

ALL OUR PUBLIC FIGURES, ANALYST AND ENTERTAINERS ARE GUILTY OF "I DONT CARE ATTITUDE" dey wud neva use dere position to organise a non partisan, non tribal protest against dis looters bt wud rada mingle with dem or remain numb abt d state of d nation.

the major problem I think is due to disagreement. We hardly agree with each other if not we can force these people to change for good

^^^LOL@ 'Tinubu halitosis'! grin

But on a more serious note, i've come to accept that Nigeria is gangsters paradise! You'll not find the national or state houses of assembly populated by a majority of honourable selfless individuals (forget the 'honourable' tag some of them have)! They're not interested in governance for romantic reasons of nobility and nationalism; rather they're in it mainly for the materialistic and monetary gain!

You are right my friend. I believe that scrapping the houses of assembly would have save us a lot of money, but it may however, make our governors to be small gods within their states.
These pays are not justifiable.
