Education is the key that provides access to opportunity. The overwhelming majority of our children still do not pass WAEC exams. With their aspirations and potentials so heavily undermined by this current education system, how can our youths hope to maximize opportunities? To tackle this issue we plan to do the following: 1. Provide free high quality education below tertiary level of education 2. Prioritize and increase the funding for primary schools and technical/vocational schools 3. Review teachers salary to restore the pride of place of teaching as a profession and as a career for high achievers. 4. Focus on inspection of schools to improve and enforce better standards 5. In as much as I agree that Lagos State students might not have done so well in WAEC, there is more that the students, teachers, and parents have to do than changing the government. Until each party rises up to his/her task in ensuring success, a change of government will not make any meaningful impact. |
