That one guy was wielding a belt-fed machine gun. If he had let fly with that thing in ANY direction, pieces of metal, concrete and flesh would fill the air until he lets off the trigger. For inside a metropolitan area, that machine gun represents SERIOUS overkill, so it is no wonder that the police fled, rather than engage them and face such a firestorm while holding "mere" AK47s.

This is why we need to get gun ownership laws passed.

These dudes where obviously batshit high on some serious d0pe and no telling what they would have done.
Any legal gun owner who finds himself in close proximity to where this sort of major robbery operation is in progress would be well advised to keep his head down and hide his gun, because no matter the sort of firearms permitted to Nigerian civilians, there is NOTHING short of a military counter-attack that can withstand or defeat a gang backed up by men with belt-fed general purpose machine-guns, as shown in that video clip.

One bullet to the head will make him drop that MPG.

As an owner of several large caliber hunting firearms, I was thinking along the same lines, my brother, BUT, when the first one of those banditos drops from a well-placed sniper shot, the rest of the gang will light up ALL buildings and vehicles in the area with continuous fire, killing many more people, since those GPMG rounds break through concrete walls or steel as though they are made of grass.

If only any of the people filming it had a sniper, those armed robbers would have been taken out one by one.
Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by akanbiaa(m): 12:15pm On Mar 13, 2015
Mbu will have to kill 20 armed robbers for each police killed waiting for his reply, may those that lost their lives rest in peace. Amen

^^^Operated for a whole freaking 10 minutes undisturbed for that matter! Where were the numerous olopas one normally sees all over town harassing innocent individuals for egunge!? huh

In saner climes those animals can't pass 3 minutes max before facing a SWAT team armed to the teeth!
Rubbish! Are you saying there hasn't been successful and deadlier robberies in your so called Sane Clime

you would take one out but if they manage to spot where the bullet came from, you would be taking a first class ticket to lucifer.

the machine gun was belt-fed. it's the sort you would see in urban warfare - it can take out an entire village. apparently, jonathan's visit to lagos caused the shortage of police officers in that area.

according to AIT, it's the first bank robbery in lagos in 7 years.

deadlier robberies have happened in sane climes. it's got nothing to do with civilisation. actually, civilised societies are worse when it comes to this kinda incident.

The rest would most likely run away if one of them is taking out by a sniper whose position they couldn't tell.
I think the guys who recorded the video where in a very vantaged position.

you are funny!
these aren't amateurs - look at the confidence and the swagger at which they held down an entire strip of the city. they look para-military to me. they would certainly know where the bullet came from - these aren't cult boys. these ones have been to war before.

the question we should be asking is,WHERE THE HELL DID THEY GET ACCESS TO SUCH FIREARMS?
Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by Donbabaj: 12:25pm On Mar 13, 2015
We need high level technology.. good to see there is a caption of the video.. With this little piece, the faces of this culprits can be zoomed out from the video, detected and brought to book instantly only there is no technology. I also believe that their is always an insider info whenever it comes to an organized bank robbery as such

RIP to those who lost their lives!

masked ke?
na amateurs dey mask. professional armed robbers don't need masks in nigeria. grin

you need to see the gun one of them was holding. the belt was dangling like a rope. not even a truck full of MOPOL would engage these robbers.

The dead one might know where the bullet came from but it will be of no use because he will be dead.
The rest won't know.
Besides I don't know how effective shooting from that distance upwards with a machine guy would have been.
I still maintain that the filmers were in a very good position.

When we have a stewpid government - why won't they.

When the west were busy dishing arms to maniacs in Libya why didnt we protest?

Why didn't we form strategic relationships to control our borders?

Talkless of the ones coming from Iran - it's ridiculous.

I agree - you'd need to wait for all 3 to come out, probably need more than one sniper. 2 should be enough.

they were completely open. easy targets.
