that's an M60 general purpose machine gun. the length of that belt means he has about 100 rounds. the maximum range of that gun is about 3km.

why would they take such ammo to a robbery operation if they aren't already used to it? they must have had enough practises with it.

we should be thanking GOD the number of casualties didn't exceed what was reported. under no circumstance should that weapon be used within a city.

You could see that they were struggling to even keep the gun at a normal level.
A confident sniper in that building would have taken all 3 of out if the rest didn't escape after the first shot.

the gun weighs about 10kg. it's a difficult weapon to hold. most of the time, it's mounted on a tripod - no sniper would even try it cos he would know he's at a disadvantage.

All those people you mentioned get killed all the time, even by amateurs.
The 10kg gun wasn't mounted on a tripod which makes things more difficult for them.
Finally, the sinper would have been at a very great advantage and not a disadvantge. They had 2 people filming them from different directions and they couldn't detect any, how would a sniper have been different?
You could see in the video that the guys were all facing and walking in different directions, if you take the first one out, how on earth will the remaining 2 know where you shot from? Let us be realistic please. It is either the remaining 2 start running helter skelter or get killed by the sniper if they are foolish enough to stay.
No 2 ways about that!

Don't you think they would have had no chance if our police force was more proffesional? This can happen in the developed world too no doubt but i bet the robbers will be pursued with helicopters and technology. A well equipped swat team with snipers will take them out

They were facing different directions, they had their own sound of gun shots to distract them.
At best they would need to take a look at the guy who was shot before they could know where the shot came from. Where is the time to do that?

jonathan's visit to lagos caused the shortage of police. if we are honest, i am sure not even the heavy presence of police could have stopped these robbers. our police carry inferior firearms. they would have fled!

We are saying the same thing here bro. Even if 2 trucks of police were sent to the robbery scene i don't think they stand a chance against this robbers fire power. Our police are not trained to handle such situations. What they know is to harras and beat up innocent civilians. Most police men carry rusted Ak-47 wrapped with brown celotape. How can such weapons combat crime?

Imagine this robbery happened in London or Newyork. I can bet the robbers perimeter would have been surrounded and many helicopters will be in the air. They will be caught unless they commit suicide

even me wey dey play call of duty knows the direction of bullet. these guys are professionals - with a giant set of balls to attack a bank in broad day light in that part of lagos. they could be military boys!



and that exactly is the point.
entry wound/exit wound would point the direction the bullet came from. whatever happens next is anyone's guess. if they decide to do an eye for an eye, it's the grass(common people) that would bear the brunt.

I understand the eye for eye part, they could have gone mad and started shooting round the vinicity blindly which is dangerous, but a well trained sniper would still take them all out before they do much damage.
As for knowing the direction the shot came from, the only 2 options I know of are sound and bullet wounds; their gun shots noise would have prevented them from hearing the sound properly and checking the entry/exit point of the wound wouldn't be possible in that situation. It will be suicide.
The sniper would have had all the advantages: the sight, the elevation, the planning, the time.... Just name it

PKM machine guns would take out anything effectively from 1,000m. What I mean is even if civilian were to carry GUNS it probably will be pistols, and 1,000 meter, don't even go there.
Plus of anybody shot at them from any position, other civilians will pay for his sins.

You guys are only looking at it from the weapon angle, what is the use of a sophiscated weapon if you don't even know your target or where he is? Like I said above a sniper would have had the advantage of sight, elevation, initiative, planning and time. Yes the guys could have gone mad and shot blindly but a confident sniper will take the rest of them out before they do much damage.
I wouldn't mind one or 2 more people getting injured if it would have meant the death of these robbers.
The fact that the guys are still out there alive is real danger.

Oga, try and read or learn about M60 machine gun. Any good sniper would have taken those guys out easily.
