Mali too strong for Amajita Mali came from a goal down to defeat South Africa 2-1 in their second Group B African U-20 Championship clash in M’Bour on Thursday evening. Eagles substitute Hamidou Traore was the hero for the West Africans, scoring two late goals to see his team recover from a penalty by Amajita skipper Madisha Modjeka. The result means Mali move to the verge of qualification for the semifinals (and the U-20 World Cup), while South Africa have been all but eliminated. The teams’ fate in these respective regards will be confirmed later this evening if Ghana avoid defeat against Zambia in the other Group B match. Mali enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges, sending several dangerous crosses into the penalty area, but South Africa goalkeeper Dumisani Msibi showed excellent anticipation and handling skills to neutralise those situations. It took some time for South Africa to find their footing in the match, but even once established they struggled to get their passing game going. Mali themselves weren’t especially impressive in attack, often shooting wildly off target. The West Africans’ best chance of the first half arrived in the 40th minute when Malick Toure arrived at the far post to meet a right-wing cross, but he made a real mess of his attempted header, while Amajita’s only shot on target was a tame effort from Dumisani Zuma just before the break. Mali should have opened the scoring early in the second half through tall defender Ichaka Diarra, who beat Msibi to a floated cross from a set piece but put his header wide of an unguarded goal. The Young Eagles continued to look the likelier scorers as the game progressed, while South Africa suffered a blow in attack when Portuguese-based attacker Haashim Domingo was forced off the pitch with an ankle injury. Amajita, as a result, had used all three substitutions by the 68th minute. However, against the run of play, South Africa were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute when Ichaka Diarra committed a completely unnecessary foul on Zuma. Amajita captain Madisha Modjeka converted the spot kick to put his side in the lead. Mali would have felt hard done by and they deservedly restored parity in the 78th minute with a brilliant goal from substitute Hamidou Traore, whose right-footed shot from a wide left position beat Msibi with wicked curl and dip. And Traore put Mali ahead in the 86th minute, meeting a cross from the right by-line with an easy volley into the back of the net after being left unmarked at the back post. The substitute’s goal made it 2-1 and sealed the three points for the Young Eagles. |

Ghana qualify for U20 World Cup Ghana came from behind to beat Zambia 2-1 in a 2015 CAF African U-20 Championship encounter at the Caroline Faye Stadium in M'Bour, Senegal on Thursday. Goals from Abraham Attobrah and Samuel Afful not only securing the Black Satellites place in the semifinals, but also booking their spot at the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand alongside Mali and Nigeria. Dave Daka's early goal was not enough as Zambia crashed out of the tournament along with Amajita who suffered a 2-1 defeat tot the Eaglets in the early kick-off. Zambia made a couple of changes to their starting eleven with team captain Lubambo Musonda missing out due to an injury he picked up in the Southern African's defeat to Mali. Ghana coach Sellas Tetteh meanwhile stuck with the same team that toppled Amajita in their opening Group B encounter earlier this week. Junior Chipolopolo got off to the perfect start with Dave Daka repaying the faith shown in him by Hector Chilombo. The Zambia striker pounced on a mistake made by Michael Otoo before firing a rasping effort past Mutawakilu Seidu from the edge of the area with two minutes on the clock. Ghana went in immediate search of the equaliser and dominated proceedings before Attobrah's goal int the 27th minute. The Black Satellites midfielder burst down the right flank before cutting inside and curling an unstoppable effort into the back of the net. Patrick Ngoma thought he had restored Zambia's lead in the 42nd minute following a goalkeeping error, but the assistant's flag was raised. Zambia though will feel aggrieved at the decision as replay's suggest the attacker was wrongly adjudged and was in fact onside by some distance. The first chance of the second-half fell to Ghana's Benjamin Tetteh in the 62nd minute. The lanky forward rising highest before directing a powerful header at goal, but Mangani Banda was up to the task to keep the score deadlocked heading into the final half-hour. Seidu was called into action with 10 minutes remaining, the burly gloves man doing well to first keep out Dave Daka and then namesake Patson Daka in quick succession. Second-half substitute Afful grabbed the winner for the West African's with five minutes remaining. The marksman beat the offside trap before slipping the ball past Banda to book Ghana's ticket to the World Cup. Zambia (1) 1 (D.Daka 2') Ghana (1) 2 (Attobrah 27' Afful 85') Zambia: Banda; Mulenga, Mkandawire, Bwalya (Mbewe 78'), Sakala, Kayawe, Mwamba, Sautu, D. Daka, Ngoma (P.Daka 68'), Zulu Ghana: Seidu; Bempah, Aboagye, Attobrah, Otoo (K.Yeboah 44'), Aidoo, Adjei Y.Yeboah (Mohammed 90+4'), Tetteh (Afful 80'), Kassim, Asmah |

European clubs chase Flying Eagles stars Several Flying Eagles stars led by striker Taiwo Awoniyi are being chased by top European clubs on the back of their superb showing at the AYC in Senegal. “Flying Eagles players are now hot cake among the many scouts and clubs in Senegal,” a top source informed AfricanFootball.com Taiwo Awoniyi is the most wanted Flying Eagles star and it is understandable as he is the leading scorer in the tournament with three goals and has scooped two CAF Man of the Match awards thus far. He has a growing number of suitors from top clubs in Portugal and France. However, the snag is that he has signed a pre-contract with modest Swedish side Kalmar. His representatives are expected in Senegal in the new week with the hope of firming up a contract for the 17-year-old player from Imperial Academy in Nigeria. Ifeanyi Matthew is another Nigeria U20 star who has caught the eye of top European clubs. The El Kanemi Warriors attacking midfielder has scored twice and provided three assists as the Flying Eagles romped into the semifinals of the AYC in style. Clubs in France, Italy, Norway and Belgium have also cast their dragnet on Akinjide Idowu, skipper Musa Muhammed and left-back Mustapha Abdullahi. |

Flying Eagles will cope without top goalkeeper - Manu Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has said his team will forge ahead at the 2015 AYC even without suspended first-choice goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo. Enaholo was sent off in the team’s second game against Congo for a professional foul after just 26 minutes. The MFM Lagos ace will thus miss Saturday’s final Group A match against Cote d’Ivoire on account of his ban. “Enaholo will miss the game but we have three top-class goalkeepers here in Senegal and so we are fully covered in this department,” declared Manu. Olorunleke Ojo from Giwa FC is most likely to stand-in for Enaholo as U17 World Cup-winning goalkeeper Dele Alampasu is third in the pecking order. |

2015 AYC: Injuries down Flying Eagles stars Several Flying Eagles stars including star striker Taiwo Awoniyi are now on the treatment table after a bruising African Youth Championship Group A clash against Congo on Wednesday. Awoniyi, the tournament’s leading scorer with three goals, is nursing a right knee complaint and has been excused from training, while Ifeanyi Ifeanyi suffered a head injury which needed three stitches. Precautions Bernard Bulbwa is nursing a shoulder injury and Ifeanyi Matthew, who has scored twice at Senegal 2015, has a thigh problem. - They could all be available for the match against Cote d’Ivoire on Saturday but we will take some precautions before then, said Flying Eagles doctor Ozi Salami. Showdown First-choice goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo will miss Saturday’s showdown against Cote d’Ivoire after he was sent off for a professional foul against Congo on Wednesday. However, he is expected to return to action for the semifinal on Wednesday in Dakar. |

Manu garba drilling exercise no be beans oo.. I think they should be excluded from the game against the Ivorians.. I honestly want them to be on a revenge mission against the Ivorians.. I believe we have capable replacement for them in the team.. Wishing them the quickest of recovery.. Good job Joseph1013.. |

Manu garba should rest the injured players for the knockout stage but still we must revenge the U-17 defeat. Nothing else will give me joy than to see us defeating the Ivorians... They won't taste the world cup in New zealand, they didn't bring anything significant to the 2013 UAE tournament and they are now bringing anything new to the U-20. Either Congo or Senegal should qualify.. Revenge is Always Sweet!!!!!!!!!!! |

Awoniyi and Matthew should play PLEASE! I absolutely LOVE seeing Awoniyi play and he plays well with Matthew We absolutely NEED to win Cote d'Ivoire and they're a relatively sucky team now. We'll show them it's luck that made em beat us Would like Nigeria and Senegal to qualify from our group....I want a Nigeria-Ghana finals...I hear the same coach that took em to U-20 AYC and WC victory in 2011 is coaching them again. Let's see how he fares with Manu Garba's voice |

Flying Eagles spy on Ghana, Mali After booking their place in the semifinal of the AYC, the Flying Eagles swung into action ahead of next week’s clash for a place in the championship game as team officials were in Mbour on Thursday to watch second round of matches in Group B. Assistant coach Nduka Ugbade and Rafiu Yusuf from the NFF technical department were at the Caroline Faye Stadium in Mbour to watch South Africa battle Mali and Ghana take on Zambia. Ghana Black Satellites, who the Flying Eagles beat and drew with in recent series of warm-up matches, lead Group B after they defeated Zambia 2-1 and Mali beat South Africa 2 - 1. Nigeria, already on six points after two rounds of matches, could finish top of Group A on Saturday if they avoid a defeat and so they will battle the runners-up in Group B for a place in the AYC final. |

Nigeria high on AYC goals chart High-scoring Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have three players among the leading scorers at the 2015 African Youth Championship in Senegal. Nigeria have thus far scored seven goals in two matches with striker Taiwo Awoniyi scoring three of these goals to make him the leading scorer in the tournament. Midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew has two goals and he has also made three assists, while compatriot Musa Muhammed scored twice from the penalty spot on Wednesday against Congo. Congo striker Silvere Gavoula Mboussy, who is based in Morocco, has scored twice, so too Ibrahima Wadji of hosts Senegal. |

Zambia shouldn't be going home - Flying Eagles coach Flying Eagles assistant coach Nduka Ugbade has said Zambia ought to still be contention at the AYC because they are a terrific side. Zambia and South Africa have both been eliminated from the tournament as West Africans Ghana and Mali booked their tickets to the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup from Group B. “Zambia are a terrific side, quick and very talented with some very outstanding players like the numbers 20 (Dave Daka), 7 (Patrick Ngoma) and 9 (Charles Zulu),” said Ugbade, who was at the Caroline Faye Stadium in Mbour on Thursday to watch the Group B match involving Zambia and Ghana. “They and not Mali should be heading to the World Cup and the semifinals of the AYC. “It’s a big loss for the tournament that Zambia have now been eliminated. But that’s football for you.” Ghana and Mali will on Sunday battle for the leadership of Group B with the eventual winners to square up against the runners-up in Group A, which will only be known on Saturday, while the runners-up in Group B clash with the Flying Eagles of Nigeria. Flying Eagles seek revenge against Cote d'Ivoire https://africanfootball.com//bp_images/2015/03/Samm_1_March_5_580x473.jpg It will be a grudge contest when the Flying Eagles tackle Cote d’Ivoire in a final AYC Group A clash on Saturday as the bulk of both teams have clashed at the U17 level with the Ivorians coming out tops twice. At the 2013 CAF U17 Championship in Morocco, Cote d’Ivoire clinched their first-ever title at this level when they upstaged favourites Nigeria on penalties after final scores stood at 1-1. The Ivorians also beat the Golden Eaglets 1-0 in a group game of the same competition. Manu Garba and Ibrahim Kamara were both in charge of the teams in Morocco and they will again be calling the shots when they do battle on the artificial pitch of the Caroline Faye Stadium in Mbour by 5pm local time on Saturday. The pressure is on Cote d’Ivoire to win so as to reach the last four of the competition as they have two points following draws against both Congo and Senegal. A loss to Nigeria could let in hosts Senegal, who have a point and face a deflated Congo in the other match in this group in Dakar. “Cote d’Ivoire will likely sit back in defence and hope to catch us on the counter, but we will be ready for them,” said a confident Manu. “People have spoken of revenge, but we are not interested in that. We just want to keep on winning our matches because if we win all our games in Senegal, we will be champions.” “We are focused on winning our final match against Cote d’Ivoire even though we have already won the group,” added striker Chidera Ezeh. “It won’t be an easy match particularly after what happened at the U17 level. “We respect them, but don’t fear them and we will win.” On Wednesday, Chelsea U18 midfield ace Victorien Angban justified his return for the Ivorians with a goal against Senegal after he was suspended for his team’s first game. He could again pose a threat to the Flying Eagles back four led by skipper Musa Muhammed. |

My favorite players at u17 were Ezeh and Bello. Bello is such a hard worker. I was even more impressed in his last game, he is showing a lot of composure on the ball. I hope he gets a club in Belgium or Holland soon. That is the place for him to develop. Not much has been seen from Ezeh so far but I am sure, we will see more. I really wish the NFF can be bold and promote these guys en masse to the super eagles. Not all are ready, but most are. I do not think Ezeh is ready but in 2 years, he should be And please, can we do that and make manu the coach... Why do they keep begging keshi? Once you add an Omeruo and a few others, many African teams will lose to them, home and away. We can't keep managing Agbim and co. Keshi never selects on form, he has too many poor favorites. Agbim is not even in the top ten keepers in the Nigerian league, yet he keeps getting invites. If I am an adviser to these players, I'd tell them to choose between: Belgium, Holland and Portugal for their next move. No big club move yet. Go where you will see game time.. Awoniyi will get big suitors, I hope he goes to a place where he plays every week. If that happens, he will be a superstar before long. |

Flying Eagles won't be 'easy' against Cote d'Ivoire Flying Eagles have insisted they are committed to beating Cote d’Ivoire in a final Group A match on Saturday in Mbour even though they have already won the group and also qualified for the World Cup in New Zealand. Even before the final group game against Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria have totaled an unassailable six points after two matches and now await the runners-up in Group B, which could be either Mali or Ghana. AYC hosts Senegal need Nigeria to beat the Ivorians while they defeat Congo to qualify for the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand in May. “We will again approach this game with all seriousness. We will give our best because every game in this tournament is very important to us,” said Flying Eagles goalkeeper trainer Fancy Ewulu. “We need to win the maximum points as we have done in our two matches.” He added: "Cote d’Ivoire are a good side, a very highly tactical team and we expect a very tight game, but we have resolved that we want to win all our matches because we are here to be champions.” Flying Eagles midfielder Akinjide Idowu echoed the thoughts of the coach. “We will not take this match easy as every game here in Senegal is extremely important for us,” he said. “We are focused to win again.” The Flying Eagles arrived Mbour after more than an hour’s bus ride from Dakar Friday afternoon. They are staying at the fabulous Palm Beach Framissima, which also houses the Black Satellites of Ghana. Unlike Dakar, Mbour is very hot even though it is bordered by the ocean. The team trained for an hour at the match venue, the Caroline Faye Stadium, by about match time. The artificial pitch is in perfect condition. Kick-off time Saturday is 5pm local time, which is 6pm in Nigeria. |

For God sake, Coaches who have won Trophies have been fired why is Keshi case different, is Keshi now a demi-god?. Keshi has nothing else to offer us.. If we don't get things right, we will fail to qualify for the next Afcon.. |

Ugbade Seeking Revenge Against Cote d'Ivoire https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/203911/7/default.jpg Despite having very little at stake when they take on the Ivoirian U20’s later today in their last group game of the ongoing Africa Youth Championship in Senegal, Flying Eagles assistant coach, Nduka Ugbade says they hope to exert some revenge on Cote d’ Ivoire. The Ivoirian U17’s in 2013 stopped Nigeria from winning that year’s CAF U17 tournament, after defeating Nigeria 5-4 on penalties. And with a majority of players from the 2013 African U17 championship making the present U20 squad for both countries, Ugbade believes now is the time to get their pound of flesh. “They stopped us from winning the U17 championship in Morocco in 2013 and it really hurt us because we wanted to win that tournament. “But now we will show them how far we have come, and show them that they were only lucky the last time,” Ugbade said. Ugbade, however, said revenge will not be their driving force, as they have programmed themselves to win every match irrespective of the opponent. “But in as much as we want to avenge that loss, you should know revenge is not our mission in this tournament. We have programmed ourselves to win every match and beating Ivory Coast will be no different. “Maybe the sweetest revenge will be if we meet and beat them in the final,” he added. The Ivoirians are second in group A behind Nigeria, but have just two points in as many games and need at least a draw with the expectation that Congo and Senegal play out a draw. |

Kalmar Made Illegal Approach For Flying Eagles Star Awoniyi https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/203918/7/default.jpg Swedish club Kalmar could face the wrath of football's governing body, Fifa, over their illegal approach to sign Nigeria Under 20 international Taiwo Awoniyi, SL10.ng has been informed. The Flying Eagles striker penned a preliminary contract under duress with the Allsvenskan side last May, and without the approval of United Academy FC of Ilorin, who own his economic and sporting rights. Taiwo Awoniyi joined United Academy FC at the age of 8, and his registration rights was never transferred to Imperial Soccer Academy, Odogbolu, the nursery team Kalmar unknowingly did business with. Awoniyi was with Imperial Soccer Academy five months prior to the 2013 Fifa Under 17 World Cup without the consent of Abdulrazaq Olojo, the coach of grassroots club United Academy. The 17-year-old was tapped-up by Imperial Soccer Academy under the guise that he was being taken to a foreign club. The Nigeria youth international was forced to sign a contract without the knowledge of Coach Olojo. However, the agreement between Taiwo Awoniyi and Imperial Soccer Academy ran out in April 2014, meaning Kalmar's pre- contract with him is invalid. Former Nigeria international Seyi Olofinjana, the owner of Imperial Soccer Academy, was contacted to hear his side of the story, but he refused to answer his calls. |

Amadu: Flying Eagles Must Not Get Carried Away https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/203913/7/default.jpg General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Musa Amadu, has warned the Flying Eagles against being carried away, after they qualified for the semifinals of the Africa Youth Championship and secured a place at the FIFA U20 World Cup. Amadu praised the team for their efforts so far in the tournament, and reiterated that the expectations remain to win the championship, but posited that they mustn’t be carried away. “The expectation of course is for them to win the tournament, but we don’t want to put them under any unnecessary pressure,” he said. “They have done well so far in the competition and I think Nigerians are happy with the way they have played, but they must remain focused and not get carried away. “They haven’t won the tournament yet, so they must remain focused and steadfast but I believe they can go all the way and win the competition for the seventh time for Nigeria,” he stated. The Flying Eagles are top of group A with six points, and are the first team in the competition to book a place at the semifinals and the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand. Despite being hugely successful at the African level, Nigeria is yet to win the FIFA U20 World Cup. |

Côte d’Ivoire: We Want Efficiency Against Nigeria Côte d’Ivoire U-20 coach Ibrahima Kamara says they will battle Nigeria with every means that they have in Mbour on Saturday, in their crucial African Youth Championship Senegal 2015 Group A clash. “We have no choice. We will have to compete with our own means. We are aware that the match won’t be easy. We are going to forget about the aesthetic and look for efficiency to win the game,” Ibrahima Kamara said at the pre-match press conference on Friday. The Flying Eagles have already secured their spot in the last four following back-to-back victories over Senegal and Congo, and will be one of the four African representatives at the U-20 FIFA World Cup New-Zealand 2015. However, the Nigerians are determined to extend their winning run at the tournament when they face the young Elephants, knowing that the latter are left with no choice but to cash the three points to progress to the next round and join Nigeria, Ghana and Mali in New-Zealand. “We are going to face a good team of Côte d’Ivoire. But there is no question of taking our foot off the pedal, even if we already qualified,” Nigeria U-20 boss Manu Garba warned. The match will kick off at the Caroline Faye Stadium in Mbour at 19h00 CAT. |

I'm afraid for Ezeh. He just might be sacrificed for the World Cup. I was thinking Alfa would be used in this match. His diminutive stature may not have helped his cause. Omego has been dropped. joseph1013:For pyagbara and Saleh, they will be fighting for a world cup place. Manu rates Ezeh, I doubt he will be dropped. Wasiu Jimoh is likely to be dropped, he rushes his decisions. If Abdulganiyu does well, Omego will probably be out. Alfa has actually grown a bit from u17. He is one that might be dropped for the WC. Nwobodo is a star in the making, I hope he proves himself today. |

For a World Cup place, he is up against Awoniyi, Simon Moses, Isaac Success, Kelechi Iheanacho, Pyaghara and Muazam (injury has hampered him this period). How many strikers does a team need for a competition out of a possible 23-man squad? His place is as good as gone! Manu is not a man known for yielding to sentiments. |
