Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria break the record as being the first Nigerian university to produce home made cars. The cars were commissioned this Friday (13-3-2015) at around 4pm this evening.
The cars were manufactured as a collaboration between the faculty of engineering (mechanical engineering) and shell Nigeria, the cars were named as ABUCAR 1 & ABUCAR 2.

A toy car that I bought for my niece is even better and well designed than this piece of crap, later someone will say transformation and that we are not good Nigerians. Also you call this starting from somewhere, just look at the shape, and I doubt if the engine was built from scratch.

(This is what I call rome was not built in a day), instead of wasting time and energy on piece of crap that will be discarded they could go into building components with quality that could be ordered by car makers carpets, quality paints, car seats etc.

Huawei didn't start making phone at a go, they provided telecommunication services on a small scale, then moved and expanded their infrastructure before expanding into making phones.

And one man will say he is a professor let him go abroad and see what his under paid non funded professors are doing abroad, they are busy ironing their leaders of tomorrow.

Good for a science project but why do we have to compete with Toyota and co. Let our schools create unique products. I do not understand what it mean to create 1st in nigeria product. The world is a global village and we need to compete at that level.

You guys are coming last anyway. As for the engine, I can vow with my whole life that they did not design it in Abu neither did they fabricate it in Nigeria.

Nuta Bolts of Anambra State University was the only Nigeria team that have participated in a car design competition by the institution of Mechanical Engineers and they were African Best and 7th in the World.


Even in Population Challenge Competition, organized by the institution of Mechanical Engineers, the were the world Best

Stop naming some mumu universities. That vehicle was not the first to be produced in ABU. The first car to be designed and produced by any Nigerian university was designed and produced in ABU in the early 1990s long before futo and other baby universities knew what automobile designed is all about.
