ozoigbondu: That was his official residence, its like the equivalent of Aso Rock, for the premier of Northern Nigeria at that time, and not his personal house - pls do a little research before speaking out of ignorance, google is your friend, use it wisely. |

asha80: I did NOT and l am NOT twisting "FACTS". You are correct that the "nomenclature" for the region l referred to, back then was not called South-South. I used that phrase "now" since that is what those reading TODAY.... in 2015, will relate to. It still does not change the fact that the Crude Oil l was referring to, was found in Oloibiri, which was NOT in the East (Biafran region) but in the "Niger Delta region" which was also NOT in Igbo land. I never said Delta and Edo where in the Easter Region! Read me again. Infact, Ojukwu, in his "expansionist drive" invaded these areas, looted the Central bank of the Mid Western Region and "annexed" these regions to his Biafra! So, when the chips were down, the current Delta and Benin/Edo people who align with your Igbo project should and would realize that "they were once conquered by the Igbos and would, if care is not taken, be conquered again..... as long as they have that Crude Oil which Ojukwu was "eyeing in 1965"... and the Igbo is are still eyeing today, in 2015. As for having "something" against the Igbos, that is just cheap talk! I did not manufacture what happened between 1960 and 1967.....You might not like the role your people played and still playing but it does not change the facts. What needs to change is the attitude of those involved. Recounting history, irrespective of who or which tribe played "Judas" does not equate to enmity or having something against some people. Truth needs to be told and History needs to be recounted so we can learn from our past mistakes, ... for a better future. Lastpage! 1 Like |

kritikali: Funnily, if you know me in real life, it will shock you how many of my very close friends are Igbos! Not the illiterate types, the uninformed and bigoted nuisances who parade nairaland o! Within us, there is no TRIBE or RELIGION and all of us understand our past, the roles played by our past leaders and even more importantly, we are HONEST and MATURED ENOUGH to accept our weaknesses, our failings, our history and are determined not to let those things of the past, (even as we acknowledge and accept them), TO SEPARATE OR UNDERMINE WHAT WE STAND FOR! But as you say l be Nigga, l don become your Nigga be that Shoo! Tell you something, until we accept our past, we will appear to struggle with our future! No tribe is a saint but some are still trying to deny their past.... just to appear as the victim! Lastpage! 2 Likes |

T8ksy:Exactly! Even an Igbo man was brave enough to accept this ploy.... had it come to fruition! They would not accept that the Yorubas made a "survival-saving decision" based on innate wisdom.... but would rather called them cowards for not walking into a suicide plan by Ojukwu! Question is: Of what benefit is the so-called Bravery on the part of the Igbo decision -makers of those days when their population has to suffer such a disgraceful conquest, with the loss of millions of innocent lives... and their general Ojukwu has to flee his country with his tail between his legs? "Bravery is NOT FOUND is reckless chest-beating and suicidal actions.... but in carefully planed and well-conceived actiosn that yield the desired result...using minimum effort and resources" .... to paraphrase another Yoruba sage! Who says Yorubas are not the wisest in Nigeria? Hating them wont change that fact. Lastpage! 2 Likes |

lastpage: Under the watch of Hausas and Yorubas Nigeria became the corruption capital of the world. Virtually nothing gets done in Nigeria without someone bribing someone. You simply have to bribe to get what you want. If you want the rag-tagged policeman at a roadside checkpoint to let you pass you have to bribe him; if you want to obtain a form from a government office you have to bribe the clerk dispensing the supposed free form; if you want the officials in the ministry of your business interest to do something for you, you have to bribe them; if you want contract to do some work for the government you have to bribe whoever awards the contract; if you want to become a member of the legislature or executive or judiciary you have to pay your dues (to the power brokers of Nigeria); if you want to attend a university in Nigeria or obtain a job at one of her fourth-rate universities you have to bribe someone there. What is empirical is that Hausas and Yorubas ruled Nigeria and ran her to the ground. The necessary conclusion is that they are not capable of ruling modern polities; they are disastrous in governance |
