I don't want to write a long epistle but I have been a member for few years back and I'm 100% sure of this due to observance. Not a single day will you browse through topics on NL that you won't come across any of these words, you will find at least one of them on 7 out of 10 threads throughout all the sections of the forum. 5. MOD: People use this word to call the attention of moderators (which is shortened for moderator) on a thread. 4. FP: Used for calling attention of mods too but to move topics to front page where almost everyone can see and read them. 3. FTC: This has been a culture here on NL for the first contributors to use this abbr on threads just to celebrate how fast they can beat other members to comment. Even though most of such comments are hidden by the mods and the perpetrators given bans. 2. Seun: This should have been the first on the list but then again I think it belong here. People tends to mention the name of the founder of NL on almost every threads, the reasons varies though and I can't start mentioning them. (But I'm sure oga seun will be raking in hundreds of mentions daily if not thousands) 1. OP: This is just the most used word on NL cos almost everyone wants to interact with the original poster which the abbr stands for. And of course there are several others popular words used everyday here on NL, but I think most of them are seasonal or attached to certain sections. E.g LIKE SHARE BAN LALASTICLALA ISHILOVE AIRFORCE1 PM GEJ GMB PDP APC JONATHAN BUHARI etc A local search on NL for any of the above mentioned words will return nothing less than 20 pages of results. The word over used by illiterates is Sai Buhari. Ask them the meaning and non of them would come up with an intelligent answer. For the record "Sai Buhari" means "die buhari" in Swahili. 1 Like |
