Ooni's reach is as far as his money will get him. Ordinarily his influence has greatly diminished from about 20 years ago. He's seen as the man that betrayed MKO and he can never recover from it. Anything the Ooni does is in his own interest, no Yoruba sees him as credible. You can argue this all you want, this is just the plain truth.

Then all you guys were celebrating these Obas talking about GEJ will win SW because of them are now insulting the Obas because they're denying him. Again understand this, Yorubas are smart you can just tell them "go" without them asking you "why". Jonathan's dollars can't get to everyone, it's not possible and his support in the SW ends where the dollars stop, take or leave it. Even with the people the dollar got to, a whole bunch of them will put the money in their pocket and that's where it ends.

The same Oni endorsed Omisore, and we all saw the outcome. And come to think of it, this is a place where people know their left from right, no Oba can dictate for anyone. We decide who governs us. Go check history of elections in southwest. U'll realise it isn't about one king. And the kings themselves are aware, awujale and other royal fathers in ogun lay credence to this, same with osun oba who dissociated themselves from Oni's endorsement.

The purpose of endorsement is not to get 100% votes from a region, it is to get majority votes from the constituents that believed in the person that made the endorsement. If Ooni have 100,000 subjects/loyalists that believe in him, this endorsement automatically tells the loyalists where their votes should go. This is why you get endorsement from as many power blocs as possible.

Are you blind? Timi of Ede is among the oba against Jonathan's endorsement. Read the OP. Don't forget, the Owo Obokun, Timi of Ede and the Ataojo of Oshogbo, prominent oba in Osun State, were not among the oba that met in Oduduwa Hall, OAU, Ile-Ife under the aegies of Yoruba Elders.
Orangun of Ila is a strong supporter of PDP.

Why the noise about whether or not I'm from Osun State? I visit Odo Ogbe Market and Oja Oba in Enuwa, Ile-Ife as well as newspaper stands across the town, where the bulk of the electorate are. I can beat my chest to say Jonathan will lose Osun State the way he did in 2011.

Some leading traditional rulers in Osun State Tuesday dissociated themselves from the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan as a
preferred candidate for the Saturday presidential election.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade had endorsed Jonathan in his palace
and directed some other traditional rulers in Osun to point their beaded walking sticks on Jonathan to pray for the President’s success in the election.

In a communiqué signed by the traditional rulers after their meeting at the palace of Akirun of Ikirun, the monarchs faulted their colleagues in the state who endorsed Jonathan at Ife.

The monarchs who attended the meeting and signed the communiqué include Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abioye Oyebode Oluronke, the Olukuku of Okuku, Oba Joseph Oladunjoye Fasikun, the Olunisa of Inisa, Oba Olayiwola Olawale Adedeji, the Akirun of Ikirun and Oba Rauf Adebayo Olaniyan, the Elende of Eko-Ende.

Others are Oba Kelani Adekeye Oyedare, Oloyan of Oyan, Oba Isaac Adetoyi Adetunlurese, the Onirun of Oke-Irun, Oba Yusuf Omoloye Oyagbodun, the Elerin of Erin Osun and Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, the Timi of Ede.

The monarch said the endorsement of President Jonathan in Ife was generating ripple among their subjects who thought that the entire traditional ruler in the state partook in the endorsement of the president.

The monarchs lamented that they were embarrassed when some of their subjects demanded for their own share from the hard currency allegedly doled out by the president at Ife.

According to the communiqué, “the general impression is that all traditional rulers in Osun State, without exception, were involved.
Consequently,our subjects have been accusing us, demanding our explanation for engaging in such an act. Some of them (our subjects) have also demanded for their own share of the money we collected”.

It continued “No doubt, this is an embarrassing situation to us. For this reason, we have decided to make it clear to the public that not all traditional rulers in Osun were involved in the act”.

The monarchs said good governance that would bring better life to their people is their main concern and called on their subjects to discountenance their issue of money and vote according to their conscience.
