Those Nigerians who believe America and Europe would intervene to ensure our govt hold free and fair elections or calls them to order, should witness the deafening deafening silence from World Community (America & Europe) to all the undemocratic actions being taken on daily basis by the ruling party as the elections approach.

Ensure you get your PVCs

Ensure you vote

Ensure you defend your votes and that it counts.

Then hope for the best but be ready fight for your democracy and your right to choose your government and leader.

Something tells me this Nigerian military is doing nothing but deceiving Nigerians, and that's probably the reason behind the arrest of these Al-Jazeera journalists, so they don't expose them. All we keep hearing is Nigeria military has recaptured so so and so town with no solid evidence..

..And After watching the video released from their H/Quarters the other day, it became clearer they ve bn deceiving us all along.

wen u turn robot?
So the pictures of liberated towns and villages, recovered arms and dead Boko haram members (even posted here on Nairaland) are fake? Was the interview granted by Emir of Mubi confirming his return to the palace not real? Common!

Good, look for the AFP and Reuters people too.
why? Did they do something wrong? If battles against ISIS and other war front can be reported why not the war against Boko haram?and you guys accused GMB of gagging the press.

How do AFP report about ISIS? Iraqis accuse them of doing propaganda for ISIS by not reporting much about the gains made by Iraqi forces against them in Tikrit but always showing ISIS beheading people.

We should be asking why this "war " is so secretive
midolian:
The Nigerian military on Wednesday arrested two journalists working for news television, Aljazeera, in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The military accused the journalists, Ahmed Idris and Mustafa Andy, of loitering in areas were combat operations were still ongoing.

The Defence Headquarters, in a statement, said the journalists were moving around “restricted areas” in Yobe and Borno States without protection, accreditation or clearance.

The military said the journalists were monitored by intelligence operatives and were finally restrained to their hotel rooms in Maiduguri following increased suspicion that their activities were focused on interfering with ongoing military operations in those areas.
“The motive, activities and some materials in possession of these individuals are now being investigated,” the military said.

The Nigerian military had, last year, warned reporters against unauthorized movements in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States where it fights extremist sect, Boko Haram.

The defence headquarters said Wednesday until reversed, the restriction still stands while appropriate arrangements will be made to assist duly cleared journalists to report on activities in the area under military operation “within the limits of adequate safety, security and necessary procedures”.

Even if most nigerian want GEJ out of ASO ROCK at all cost, must they now because of that are abuse our constitution?
Where in the world will a journalist be in a war zone without being accredited nor being protect? If they fall prey to the boko haram guyz what will the nation be saying about us. Let the modus operandi of operations of war zones be followed by journalist.

Don't be thick undecided

The areas in which they were operating were under martial law, there were procedures journalists operating there were supposed to follow because of the sensitivity of the operations and their own safety too. These journalists ignored the protocols required and in so doing, flouted and broke Nigerian law, it wouldn't matter if they were CNN or BBC, they broke Nigerian law and they know it, so tell me, should these foreigners be above Nigerian laws while in Nigeriahuh Has the rule of law lost value completely to us? Would Nigerian journalists operating in an arab state be shown leniency if they broke the laws of that sate? While you mull on those questions, let me pose one more to you, in an area where death can come from any angle, inhabited by a free killing savage militia group, what would foreign journalists be doing wandering about oblivious of the obvious danger to their lives if there is nothing untowards and suspicious about them?
Espionage and negative demoralising propaganda comes to my mind, what comes to yours?

This is not good for the image of Mr President.
When Egypt jailed Aljazeera staffs, was it good for their Image? Amongst all foreign media operating in Nigeria, Aljazeera appears to the worst especially when it comes to denigrating the country. I still remember that their useless accusations on Baga in 2013. And also their editorial titled "Jonathan Badluck". Ever since then I have been hoping we dish out the Egyptian treatment to them. There's this East African correspondent of theirs that I couldn't bear watching back in the days. If they were found in suspicious places let them face the music. Isnt it ironic that a news station owned by a country that can barely be described as being free is here pontificating to us on what is right or wrong. I seriously pity Nigerians who blv foreigners are interested in their progress. The world is a business centre, if chaos favours them more they re sure to cause chaos in your land. It is jst the way they work. Shikena.

God bless you for the above... Our hatred for our leaders have made us slaves to foreigners. Trust me no foreigner can love Nigeria more than Nigerians. They keep shouting human rights abuses, how many of their ppl have been arrested when we know they are equally guilty. Just imagine for a second if the recently publicised police brutality in the US were to happen in Nigeria, CNN and co would have had a free day. Even common SA with one of the largest crime rate in the world is seen as more peaceful than Nigeria. We need to open our eyes and be the ones that describe who we re. For ages they have always told us who we re. Enough with the colonial mindset. We re no country's stooge.
