What has been binding the party since 1999 is the presidential mantle it has been bearing since then. Any loss of the mantle is a calamity to the party and may cease to exist again.

nevertheless we need an opposition to checkmate apc should they win more slots in government. Apc opposition strengthened our democracy. If anything should happen to pdp we need another strong opposition with widespread support and followers.we can't return to one party state with apc as it were in time of pdp between 1999 and 2013.
