Spot on!
Yet, i think their greatest mistake was bad governance!!!
Having said that, l must give credit to the masterstroke of merging two parties with great influence in the north, some middle belt regions and south west into one formidable party - the APC
The creation of the APC was a stroke of political genius!
Infact, this election victory feels like a coup on the PDP.
lt is still like a dream.
To put the genius of the APC in perspective, check out the following points:
-They dispatched an incumbent president for the first time in the history of our democracy.
-They accomplished this feat with little resources relative to the ruling party's mega resources
-Few people took them seriously nor believed in them especially the PDP.
-They smartly played to their strength ( the "change" message and integrative politics) and to the weakness of the opposition( bad governance)
-They had formidable ,strategic allies in all the geopolitical zones, who churned out millions of votes for them through their influence
-They crafted a party model that appealed so much to the Nigerians and the world through smart campaigns, speeches and lectures within and outside the country - and that is when people took notice of this new party.
-They played a commendable grassroots politics by reaching out to people across political, ethnic, religious and ideological divides, every nook and cranny of the country was preached the message of "change"!
l could go on and on.
Well done and well played APC

Congratulations!

I AM A PROGRESSIVE but i think one of their errors is that they lack foresight, the ought to have gone through election process before any other party , why using card reader? why not a lot of registered voters from ss and se , why starving apc states, why not talking to d governor of benue state who refused to pay workers for about 6 months ,but they are not concerned as long as them the chop money like say tomorrow no dey
guy both sides are the same, the numbers just won the game, osun state govt didn't pay workers too...

- Jonathan took corruption to a new lever never seen in the history of Nigeria.
- His regime is very divisive and tribalistic. I guess some people told him that he should not allow Obasanjo to control him, which could have been a good thing if those advising had told him to align himself with the wishes of the people. Rather, their narrative was " now it's our time to steal!'. -PDP went from being a National looting squad to a regional looting squad. Before too long, the centre could not hold. There were dissenting voices even within the party.
- Jonathan never took anything of importance to Nigeria serious e.g insecurity, corruption, infrastructural deficit, power etc.
- Jonathan relegated the SW in the scheme of things. People go double cross am for election.
- Asari Dokubo and so many criminals who his regime elevated verbally attacked people from other regions of Nigeria.

poor.

go back to nursery 2 wink

In addition to what op listed, pdp undersetimated the influence of yorubas in the scheming of nigerian politics, no yoruba man enjoyed juicy political appointments during Jonathan administration and finally, pdp did not get the backings of the retired military generals that help shaped this present nigeria

.

You are right bro.

If anybody from either SE/SW and SS wants to contest against a Northern candidate in a presidential election, the best thing to do is to form alliance with the rest of the Southern state, otherwise the northern candidate ll just form alliance with any one of the 3 southern regions and that ll be d end of that election; it was proven in 63 and 79 elections.

The same thing happened in 1963 and 1979 when Igbo formed an alliance with the Northern party to form a coalition government in which Tafawa Balewa became a prime minister and Nnamdi Azikiwe became President. The same pattern in 1979........ And now again with South west

Am a Gej fan but he is to blame for his woes. He aligned himself with the wrong people and took the election/masses for granted thinking it was gonna be like before! I thought PDP was smart... Am disappointed!.. Anyways in life We Win Some and Lose Some.. And indeed the best rigger won.

I still want PDP to rise again and not die off.. lets see what the future holds sha cool
Seconded

I think he wasn't prepared for the office and also refused to prepare himself after entering the office.

I still remember 2011 we saw d messiah in him because he has the characteristics of the masses (no shoes; poor home; no godfather; a minority; a PHD holder etc)...

but wat did we Nigerians get in return. .. massive corruption; insecurity; inability to take solid and sound decision etc etc

So now we have decided to try the man Buhari whom for yrs has been begging us to give him a chance. ..

if he messes up...
Then we the people will vote him out jst have we have done to pdp & jona...

Your points are strong. However power will not leave the North in our generation. This is the permutation you guys did not take into consideration. He or any other northerner will not have the innocent simplicity or call it stupidity of GEJ. It is bye bye to power for any other region for generations to come. I only hope that light improves, roads are fixed, employments are created, foreign reserves are built up, kids in public schools are fed a meal each day, the naira slide is arrested and oil price goes up. Those were his promises. Those are the yardsticks with which he should be measured. I wish Nigeria Gods speed.

gej main problem was CLUELESSNESS period....the second is his wife PEJ.... the third was fighting very important players in naija political space.
i remember IBB telling him he should have reconcile with ameachi and obasanjo earlier.....the third was that he wasnt interested in the SECURITY of the nigerians.

Making TAN the supreme organ in the PDP campaign council to me is the biggest last mistake, the TAN people excluded virtually all PDP stakeholders in all regions from every important logistics. Those tanist no sabi anything for politics.
