good morning cartalk gurus,
av been a faceless follower of dis highly informative forum but now my car issues av driven me to create a moniker.
I drive a 2003 Toyota Camry v6 and of recent I av noticed a rattling/growling sound lik metal rubbing on tarred floor or.metal against metal sound, whenever I accelerate forcefully on low gears.especially wen accelerating from a stop.
if I dnt accelerate forcefully d sound does nt com on.sound appears to be coming 4rm d front of d car bt cnt pinpoint any area.....wen I raise d rpm at idle I dnt hear d sound.
also the sound disappears on its own after about 3 -5 seconds .d car accelerates smoothly apart 4rm d sound.
I did som check on a foreign car forum nd all fingers were pointing to a metallic part(pan) of d exhaust dat broke off partially nd is rubbing against other metals. I also remembered dt I heard d sound about 6months ago nd it disappeared on its own afta I dd a long distance travelling.
car gurus kindly advice on likely cause (s).dnt wana giv my ride to KAZEEM oo, wnt 2 b sure of wat it is nd if I need 2 know if its nothing or if I need 2 visit an autoshop

I don't think you have any problem with your gear though am not too sure, but I use a toyota sienna too and anytime I forcefully accelerate like trying to accelerate quick and I depress the throttle too much, I also hear the metal sound like metal clinging on metal but it reduces as the speedo reaches 60-80. Easy on the pedals my brother.

my chief u r rite oo, once u enta 60 km it disappears.....nd wen am easy on d pedal no sound.

gazzzuz I no dy Lagos oo....based in ekiti so test driving is not possible.
this evening on way from work, I noticed the sound was gone.killed sound 4rm d stereo bt still dnt hia anything, will keep observing sha.
gazzuzz cn u suggest a possible cause without test driving?

There are only two ways I hear this sound and I have tested this for months

1. If you depress the accelerator hard at low gear
2. If I leave the OD ON, that sound will be heard.

At first I thought the car was having a problem but this is a security feature to let you know u hard on the gas.
