Somebody Lied

Somebody Lied,
And we ate the words as feeds,
Lies they told us as kids,
Beautiful lies that tasted like sweets,
An assurance of tomorrow.

A tomorrow which may not yield,
And even if it did,
In abundance a bounty of seeds,
Seeds not from weeds,
In large bags and not quids,
Such viewed with raised eyebrows.

Eyebrows of the jealous with deeds,
Deeds carried at heart like beads,
Beads which has blinded him with greed,
Asked he'd refute it,
Refute it with words as shields,
See, an offspring he is.

Somebody lied,
When they said we'd reap,
Reap a plethora of sweet smelling mint,
Mint in multiple bundles the size of pints,
Accrued for days longer than a stint.

We believed,
We believed these lies,
We swallowed them like tea
They turned out to be expired pills,
Pills causing discomfort not just to the teeth,
Stomach rumbling to the scars from these seeds,
Now nauseated we fall sick,
And with regrets we should't have believed.

Somebody lied,
Ruminating we wonder who did,
The red coats who created the deed?
The men in opulence wearing fine prints?
Or the FEC sharing the seats?
Expectant, we wait, we sit,
We do not care whose head it fits,
The axe of justice must make its hit,
The liar or offspring must pay the fees.

Or for a collection of diamonds heavier than Lead,
Only when tales of my conquests are a deadset.

Not for a medal of fine gem,
or a collection of wares and raiments,
I'll sleep only when I've defied the waters,
Waters men dared not,
Not for lack of thirst,
But for fear that such length may bring no rest.
I'll sleep when I'm dead.

I am afraid,
My reflections trouble me and I am bored,
I am very bored.
I may leave, however I'm not sure
I need reasons,
Reasons why I should stay, not choices.

If I said goodbye,
Would you remember me,
Remember me in the annals?
Would my memories remain,
Or be blown away?

My words,
the sad and the happy?
The moments,
My presence and my absence,
Would you remember these too?

Would you march through streets in search of me?
See signs of me in every name, place?
Or clues of me in songs or smell?
Would you take up arms,
Arms in pursuit of the ones who took me?
Would you miss me?

Would you stare at dark clouds,
Lost in thoughts,
Or twinkling stars, in puzzled sorts?
Would you whisper my name in the dark,
Hoping I'd hear?
Would you remember me?

Would you wait at our tryst?
Wait for days, months, or years,
In hope I'd return?
Would you wait for me?

Would you shed tears for me?
The tears you promised, not because I've asked.
Would you miss me?
Would you wait for me in hopes I'd return?

Would you remember how we met?
Our first date,
First kiss?
Or even my birthday?
Would you miss me,
Miss me when I am gone?

So Long (The unfortunate and the Lonely)

.....So Long the afflictions of yesterday,
We've been redeemed at last,
Our place a seat in Christ's throne
No fears for tomorrows throes
His love a balm for the cold.

Through myriad of misfortune,
We trusted, we hoped.
Vicissitudes overbearing,
It's end, no scope.
Drowning in our tears
No throne, Just yokes.
His stripes, the code,
We Held on, we didn't choke.

Series of unfortunate events,
We Felt betrayed.
Our debts, numerous, none could defray.
Bewildered in shame
We sought, we prayed,
Pains overbearing,
Our state was dismay.

Though thronged, we held on,
Our praise, our horn,
It wasn't long, the savior hopped on.
Now, we are free, it was gone it was done.
Our fiend, vanquished and long gone.

....Our afflictions, so long.
