tchidi:WOW! Different strokes for different folks! Why don't you try making your own coconut milk? Did you allow it to sour before applying on your hair. The essence of adding lime is to make it sour so as to loosen the curls. Try making your own coconut milk. I think the culprit is the packaged coconut milk you used. |

And I thought ladies were going natural nowadays? Cutting off the relaxed part and grooming the roots naturally (with natural stuff) without using relaxers. |

| Re: My Natural Hair Wants To Kill Me Before My Time by Irshittabey: 5:28pm On Apr 03, 2015 |
my sister transitioned her to natural hair without cutting her hair, she just stop relaxing her hair and her hair is now natural, soft and long .the only thing she used is shear butter. My roommate did the same thing she didn't have to cut her hair. It took them about 12 to 24 months to get the desired natural texture. They don't have all this trouble you described. As for me I have never relaxed my hair before. |

Lol @Ajepako hair. Maybe Op should start feeding her hair some pizza and champagne ![]() IMO, hair texture differs and what works for A may not work for B. I relax my hair twice in a year and I don't have issues cos I have very light-textured Fulani hair. Also, I chatted offline with Nkem8'8/Oguguaa' and she told some stuffs to use to maintain natural hair. I treat my hair to avoid breakage and to gain volume. I use a mixture of these: ORI (gotten from herb-sellers) Coconut oil (same as above) Mayonnaise (edible) Olive oil Raw eggs Honey. I mix thoroughly then apply to my hair, cover my hair with a scarf and shower cap then wash off after 1-2 hours. I style with D&L leave-in, then seal in moisture with water and olive oil when I don't have D&L. This works for me like magic as my hair stays soft for 6-8 months without relaxers. Can't go completely natural just yet since I don't have the time to fuss over hair endlessly. #Naijasinglegirl, you got my votes for the blogs awards. I'm sure you will 2/3 if not 3/3 of the nominations. Kudos. |

Girl you are funny, i laughed till tears rolled out of my eyes. Cut my hair but the experience is not funny at all. Though i have not been following the treatment regimen. My hair is very coarse and strong, tried the protein tx, spritz once in a while. But, i reserve my comment. Still hoping to meet fulani women that sell hair stuff. Is not easy for people with coarse hair i must confess |

standd:Please how often do you do this in the six months? I try to stay for six months, but can't manage my hair till then. Four months tops it for me. And I found out that ori makes the four months easier. |
| Re: My Natural Hair Wants To Kill Me Before My Time by Nobody: 4:03pm On Apr 04, 2015 |
jslimz:I use the treatment whenever I notice my hair is starting to tangle, like twice in 3months or once in 2months. I treated my hair twice this year already before applying relaxer for the first time since September last year. But like I said before, my hair is really soft and long, I am working towards increase in volume. My hair shrinks even when I add only water so it's pretty manageable. Then you can mix water plus olive/coconut oil in your spray bottle and apply to your hair before you go out. This will help you seal in moisture as the hot and dry weather condition is not helping at all. |
| Re: My Natural Hair Wants To Kill Me Before My Time by jslimz(f): 6:37pm On Apr 04, 2015 |

OK, thanks. I have volume already, it's length I'm working on now. I have a spray bottle already, with water, olive oil and amla oil. My hair also retains moisture. My difficulty is working through the new growth when it exceeds 2 months after relaxing. I'll try your treatment, one thing though, whole egg or just white? |
| Re: My Natural Hair Wants To Kill Me Before My Time by Nobody: 8:53pm On Apr 04, 2015 |
jslimz:I think you shouldn't use egg at all since you don't need volume increase, just work on breakage and adequate moisture. The treatment should soften your hair until you are ready to have relaxers again. Then you can also get D&L leave-in conditioner. Ask your hairdresser to make hair treatment for you( I dunno what they mix in there but it's slightly peppery). Make sure your hair is not excessively dry and try braids more cos I know it increases length( if you are able to curb breakage) |

Naijasinglegirl:Interesting post My hair is exactly like yours...almost. If I make twist outs... twist outs o, the thing will look like basket mouth's hair. And as a churchy somborry, I cannot carry that kind of something on my head. I found out that twists works for me tho. Just normal twists, apply conditioner as you make em. If your hair is indeed what you say it is, then ur twists will look like you locked them. With this point of mine, I hope u look instagrammable BTW y'all can like to read this natural hair something too https://damitwinkle./2015/01/30/the-struggle-natural-hair-wahala/ |

Naijasinglegirl:I understand what you mean. My mom has been relaxing my hair since the age of Nine and finally one day when I was fed up of having two different types of hair on my head (perm and natural curly hair) after about 2 months without perming and since I hate the acid that goes on my head I said enough was enough am going natural So I read some stuff online like you did and waited for 5 WHOLE MONTHS for my hair to transition back to its natura state and it was still how it was before (natural and permed at the same time) so I did what u did. I cut off all the perm bits off and now my hair is really short but not too short or too big. The day i cut my hair was the day I was going to church and I didnt know what to do with it? I was clueless as my hair was short and u cant do anything with it but I must say everyone at church was really shocked coz my hair was short and afroish. Everyone was commending me for it saying how it suits me or can I touch your hair please? I didnt knwo I would get so much attention. Loll Anyway, I wanted my hair to look really shiny as well as curly so I went online and searched for products I could use in the UK. But I came across a lot of videos on Youtube mostly on Cantu Shea butter products for Black people. I must say this, I LOVE CANTU SHEA BUTTER SO MUCH!!!! The smell alone is so hmmmmmmmmm. Gossh. I love it!!! I always use either the Cantu Shea Butter Leave in conditioner with one of my olive oil or Cantu Shea Butter Cocunut Curling Cream with my olive oil. Never use any of the Cantu Shea Butter product with another of its products together as it will become flaky. Also do not put too much of it (even though I do but I add my Organic olive oil to it) Now my hair is so nice. So SHINY and Curly and when I come next to u, you will be smellign coconut ![]() But I am going to cornrow my hair sometime next week (once I have gotten an approval from my manager to take to days off. He is taking his time as usual. Busy chatting on skype!!) So yh... dnt worry about your BIG CHOP!!!!! There are other people out there who are in the same boat as u and trust me. U will notice your hair growing and u would love the texture of your hair. U can also try a product called Kinky Curly (am not sure if they sell the products i mentioned so far in Naija but its worth a try) So go to an hair shop and look for Organic products that make your hair shine if you cant find the products I mentioned. Ur hair will look like Chidinma's hair in no time (mine sorts of look like that but am getting there) ![]() Good Luck!!!!

Popularly known as manshanu in Northern Nigeria and clarified butter/ghee in other countries, manshanu is a staple in the Fulani community. manshanu has so many uses: It is used to cook. It is used a laxative. It is used as a body cream and also for the hair. Let's talk about hair. Most African natural haired women have a problem of hair breakage because of the curl pattern of the hair which is mostly 4b and 4c. Thus making women to look for chemical wonder products that will make their hair grow. Have you ever wondered why the Fulani women have very long hair? Have you also noticed that the Indian women has strong and healthy hair? I watched an Indian movie and saw how a woman slathered manshanu on her ends religiously. Also, the fulani women use manshanu daily. manshanu moisturizes the hair and strengthens it, thus preventing breakage. Used regularly, it makes your ends clump together thus preventing split ends. How can I use manshanu? It can be used as a deep conditioner. You can heat it a pot of boiling water till it melts and use on your hair to steam. It can be mixed with other natural hair products (honey, shea butter, eggs, aloevera...) for deep conditioning also. It can be used as a heat protectant before flat ironing your hair. It can be rubbed in the hair daily ( paying attention to your ends) |
