Why Sen Saraki Should Not Become The Senate President Of Nigeria by Jorussia(m): 5:30pm On Apr 05, 2015 |
So much have been said so far by people from different works of life/ shades of opinion about the suitability of the candidature of Sen saraki as the next president of the Nigerian Senate.I must start,by saying that saraki is perhaps one of the most finest and most eloquent senator in the out going 7th national assembly. For the sake of the continuous peaceful coexistence of all the ethnic group in Nigeria, i believe(even though its my personal opinion), that he should not be considered for that exalted position. Saraki, may be from north central geo political zone, but that does not dispute the fact that he is a YORUBA MAN.It will not be fair to other major tribes in nigeria for both the no 2 and 3 positions to be occupied by Yoruba. I don't have any thing personal against the Yoruba race, because, my mother is Yoruba. I am writing from the point of view of someone who believes in an all inclusive federal republic of Nigeria. 2 Likes |

Jorussia: Your point of observation would not be tenable. Please, argue from the point of Corruption. Bukola Saraki is a criminal who have stolen all the common wealth in his state. If Bukola becomes the Senate President, Fraud and corruption has taken a new dimension in Nigeria. Sai Koruption. Sai Nigeria 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Jorussia: Pls keep your opinion to yourself. Have you been following Nigeria politics for the past 4 years and see how your people filled up the entire system with Igbos..... Take a look at this list and tell me how u feel President - Bayelsa Petroleum-Bayelsa Secretary To Federal Govt- Igbo Deputy Senate-Igbo Deputy Speaker Igbo Finance Igbo CBN IGBO etc The only one that was left for Yoruba was Jamb Registrar-Ojerinde. Jonathan even made an attempt to remove him and place Igbo there before Yoruba elders intervened and warned him from replacing Yorubas with Igbos. 4 Likes |

Am Yoruba and I second the opinion by the OP. If APC want to really dominate the meddle belt the give the senate president to AKUME! |

Is he really Yoruba? He tried for APC sha. But the man is too ambitious. If GMB will not be doing another term, I'll want a Rochas to be pushed forward. This guy as senate president will battle Rochas with all he has got and give APC serious issues. |

Jorussia: For the sake of fair play, why did you people not vote in at least one APC senator? Would it be fair for APC senators to vote in a PDP or APGA senator as senate president? |

GentleToks: You Yorubas led by Tinubu can be troublesome. When Gej wanted to make the speaker of yhe house a Yoruba lady, what did Tinubu do? He kicked against in not knowing hehas a wicked agenda. His mission was to discredit Gej. So go and ask Tinubu why he refused to allow the Yoruba woman n to be the speaker, rather giving it to Tambuwal... |

Firefire: Which court declared Bukola Saraki a criminal? In Nigeria an accused is innocent until proven guilty ( at least that was the argument you people presented in comfirming Obanikoro as minister). What about stella Oduah who was elected Senator dispite numerous indictments by the legislature and even the investigative commitee set up by president Jonathan? What about Alams who is a confirmed criminal but is now a senator. Abeg free Bukola Saraki, if APC senators decides he is to be senate president, there is little you or PDP can do. 1 Like |

Jorussia: You don't knwo the meaning of fair play........so those that committed their time, resources and at great personal discomfort should be overlooked and compensate those that completely rejected the party? So if Igbos have worked assiduously for APC.....and NC did not....you will ask them to overlook SE and pick from NC because of your won defintion of fair play.... In democracy....it's always winners take all....this is not a government of national unity.... You don't reward failure in democracy. 1 Like |

vislabraye: Go and learn secondary school government, GEJ has no powers to make anyone speaker. It is not an appointive post but an elective one. The perogative to decide who the speaker is lies with the members of the house of representatives. |

Re: Why Sen Saraki Should Not Become The Senate President Of Nigeria by Nobody: 8:42pm On Apr 05, 2015 |
Saraki is the most appropriate senator to become senate president. NC is not SW .....it is not about tribal zoning but region .... Saraki is the man who will better handled the job going by the way he managed Governor's forum under Yar'adua regime .... This has nothing to do with Yoruba race. |
Re: Why Sen Saraki Should Not Become The Senate President Of Nigeria by dotreal4life: 8:53pm On Apr 05, 2015 |
I would've preferred the Senate President to go to SS or SE but since they were not strategic enough to split their votes, because of hatred or tribal sentiment, then let them face the music for the next four year. If SW packs the position of Senate President and Speaker of HOR, so be it. We worked for it through our strategic system of voting. |

vislabraye: I only highlighted and copied d 3 paragraphs that have to do with our argument from www.ngrguardian.com thread here on Nairaland. Pls, I ll want you to read this. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, is from the South East. Incidentally, Hon. Ihedioha and PDP governorship candidate of Imo State was a co-rebel with Hon. Aminu Tambuwal in June 2011, when they disrupted the PDP power sharing formula then that had zoned Speakership to the South West and Deputy Speakership to the North East. The duo upset the apple cart then and left the two zones without any significant positions for the past four years. The Tambuwal-Ihedioha political conspiracy resulted in an unfair formula, which has made both the Vice President (No.2 position) and the Speaker) No.4 to be from the same North West. In the same vein, the rebellion led to a situation whereby both the Deputy Senate President and the Deputy Speaker are from the same South East Zone. This is the thing: In the outgoing administration’s power sharing formula that reechoed at the last Yoruba Academy meeting two weeks ago, the Vice President, Senate President and the Speaker are from the North (West & Central) while the President, Deputy President of the Senate and the Deputy Speaker are from the South (South & East) respectively............ |

GentleToks: And this led to GEJ's downfall. And when did Saraki become Yoruba again? Last year, you guys said he was Fulani......now he's Yoruba? Is Rotimi (a Yoruba name) Amaechi Yoruba too? |
