Can there be a legislation that promote consideration for people from the operational areas of all the major "blue-chip" companies i.e the banks, the telcos, discos, manufacturing before considering other indigenes.
For example, the Globacom Branch in Kano should pay more emphasis to recruiting more of people from that regions than others. Similarly, Orient petroleum in Anambra should be compelled to employ more of Igbos than others. Same goes for UBA or Zenith bank in Ibadan will employ more Yourbas than others. Guiness in Benin will employ more of Niger Deltans ETC.

I don't have time to educate you on very basic things as I assume you should be an adult to address this topic. That being said, my post stated very clearly State House of Assemblies, not the Senate or National Assembly in Abuja. The State House of Assembly has oversight to legislate or make laws within its own state, not for another state or the national assembly in Abuja.

What is being proposed here is to those lawmakers of states whose constituents (citizens) are asking for laws to protect their heritage and culture, which is what a civilized and forward-looking people would make a first option. After such laws are made and signed into law, any offenders will be punished to the maximum extent prescribed by law.

Failure to make laws to address issues that affect the people will only lead to violence, killings and pogroms which can be avoided. This is what is carried out in the north first before dialogue, but rather than make violence an option, the SW should make these laws now!!

Just get some land, build low income houses and sell to Yoruba's in their so called strong holds in Lagos. Wings automatically clipped.

This is probably long overdue. It shouldn't just be limited to employment opportunities alone. Engaging contractors and sourcing materials should also be included. Globacom, although owned by Adenuga, will have to engage Emeka and sons if it plans to open a regional switch in Aba. Same applies to Dangote with the cement factory in Papalanto. He will have to engage Taju Nigeria enterprises.

I know at first it may sound to some people like institutionalising nepotism, but I think it may just spark a healthy rivalry among the various regions. Who doesn't want MTN to open the next scratch card production facility in its region - especially when you are guaranteed the locals (indigenes) and local contractors and business men will be engaged. If you want to create employment for your people and boost the income for your people and local business men and contractors, the the various regions will do anything to woo companies. Things like tax breaks and other incentives will come in exchange for promoting local content
