How could he have predicted Adaka Boro decision to lead the Nigerian Army in the war to seize the Biafran coastal line, when he had prominent Ijaw leaders on his side giving him assurances of 100 percent support, how could he have been prepared for Saro Wiwa opposition?

Wars are won and lost, it doesn't mean that those that lost are unprepared.


Nigeria was the bigger power? You mean without the unrestricted weapon supply they got from the British, they were the superior power?

They fought for conquest, Biafrans fought for freedom, without external interferences, Nigerians would have lost that war.

^^^You're a poor student of history if you're not aware of the revenge killings that went on in the north in which tens of thousands of innocent Easterners (not only Igbo) were slaughtered in cold blood....some even killed as they travelled back down south to escape the bloodthirsty murderers; if you're not aware of the implementation of Awos' 'brilliant' suggestion to Gowons' gov't that they should mount an economic and food blockade of Biafra since conventional warfare was proving ineffective at defeating the Biafran nation......sure innocent non-combatant civilians like women and children would be affected, but the key thing to remember is that the 'pesky' soldiers will eventually capitulate when they see their family members starving and ill; if you're not aware of the strafing expeditions carried out (mostly by arab mercenaries) over Biafran schools, farmlands and hospitals to inflict maximum punishment on the hated Igbos!

30 years down the line the descendants of the present day bokos may well look on the events going on in the North East with sadness, but at least they'll be grateful that GEJ didn't have an Igbo whisper in his ear and suggest an economic and food blockade of the entire North East; they'll be grateful Igbos didn't go out into the streets of Northern Nigeria....stabbing and hacking down innocent individuals, even as they flee to safety; they'll discover that most of the killings were carried out by their fellow northern muslim brothers; they'll discover the active connivance of some of the northern political and religious elite in sustaining the madness just to make the country ungovernable for a southern President from a minority ethnic group; they'll discover so much more and i can assure you Igbos would be the last people they'll want to vent their anger on!

A war you couldn't win fair and square without the help of world power is no war won. Its like Biafra was fighting 4 nations, 3super-powers and a country. If Biafra could hold their own in the war for 3years, with little help from France which was later stopped by the other super-powers, then give kudos to them.

These mercenaries were from different parts of the world not necessary Israel or France. We had a south african there too.
For the weapon help, the only time the French sent weapon thru the cameroun border was in 1968 before they told to discontinue the help to the Biafran people because Nigeria had had a meeting with other African nations to stop people from seceding in their various countries so that they won't have mushroom countries.

Russia was sponsoring elements within Crimea to destabilize the region (of course they've always denied this), and a referendum was eventually conducted in which Crimea seceded and was annexed by Russia! Nigeria on the other hand was an outright aggressor towards the Biafran people, and the pogroms carried out by civilians and the army before and during the uncivil war is a well documented fact! The Biafran nation was engaged in a fight for survival which was different from Ukraine trying to hold on to a part of their territory in which majority of its inhabitants said they want out! Just because Russia was in support of Crimea leaving Ukraine doesn't make the desires of the majority of Crimeans wrong; what was wrong was how Russia went about it! How comes the Crimea is wrong to decide where they want to go but Britain is right in still holding on to the Falklands citing the reason that majority of Falklanders want to remain with Great Britain?

You could have had a case if a referendum was conducted in the old Eastern Region to decide the matter once and for all; Ojukwu sugested this but the Gowon gov't was having non of it .....what were they afraid of?

nobody has heard that a yoloba person was
attacked in East yet we are being insulted and
