History of buhari political ship jumping:
1).2003 and 2007 presidential candidate under the platform of ANPP.
2).2011 left ANPP and joined CPC and became presidential candidate for 2011 under the platform of CPC
3).2015 left/merged CPC to form APC and became presidential candidate for 2015 election.

Buhari is not an example of a committed party member he has jumped ship three times in his 13 yrs political history. He is not a yard stick nor a model of loyalty to any political party.

I will not be surprised if he joins a different party or forms a new alliance for the 2019 presidential election once the nascent union of strange bedfellows called APC disintegrate over the looming unchecked party chieftain egos that is already haunting the flickering union.

The point here is that he's never jumped to the so called winning party, even when they constantly offered him appointments he never accepted. He stuck to being in the opposition.

@Jazzydee or whatever u call urself. Can u tell me any Nigerian Politician that has the qualities of GMB ? Let me frank with u , this man from Daura has perseverance which is for me an important virtue for someone to grow and succed in life. Of course you can as well say that he one time joined PDP for people to believe u. Take it or leave it, I pray to God to give me the kind of preservance, endurance, resilence that GMB has since he won the election. Had it been for not the above qualities, he wouldnt have contest again. So my dear GMB's qualities cannot be compared with any all these self centered PDP politicians who are decamping to apc. But I have a word for them, they should understand the type of person that the General is ooooh. They should not cry foul when they did not see any money to share becos for me it will not be business as usual ooooh.

God bless GMB

Guys, it doesn't matter how many times an individual has left a Party To another. All we should do to is pray and hope that the president elect will be moved by God's own Wisdom to lead this country to a better place in future. All I want is a better Nigeria not a better party bt a better respectful Individual worthy of leadership n who's ready to serve This country from any party

1. True opposition politicians never join their arch rivals

2. Buhari has never joined PDP

3. Therefore, Buhari is a true opposition politician and not a sell out grin

Or is CPC still a party?
Don't mix up the facts bro...He left ANPP because they betrayed him by aligning with the PDP to form a government of national unity, but can you state why the PDP goons are jumping ship if not because they want to be at the point where they can carry on their selfish and sinister attitudes.

hey mr i-too-know please save urself some breath. The thread is not talking about party loyalty. You're just talking off the point. Op is emphasizing on the domination of PDP being they the ruling party for more than 16 years in which their presidential candidates for each term defeated buhari for 12 years which leads to the popular saying that; "if you can't beat them, join them" but buhari despite being defeated by them for several years he didn't join them and didn't give up on his challenge to beat them and started forming allies elsewhere and jumping/merging from one party to another till he accomplished his mission. He just disproved their saying of if you can't beat them join them and proved the more popular saying of; "quitters never win and winners never quit".

Jazzydee or what ? You are a failed student of history , in 2003 , Buhari was with ANPP. And was the presidential candidate , in 2007 ANPP was renamed or rebranded and their name changed to APP . Buhari was still their presidential candidate , in 2011 he had a running battle with the leadership of APP who does not want him to contest on the party slot , because he hold so much power in the party , then the APP still have a lot of influential Governos in its fold , so he decided to for another opposition party like Tinubu did when he formed (AC) Action congress . Buhari formed CPC 6 months to the general eletion and contested against GEJ , in 2013 he and Asiwju Bola Ahmed Tinubu formed a merger within the opposition parties CAN , CPC , APP , and part of APGA to form APC . So Buhari has not jump ship 3 times as u claimed .

You're very wrong, Buhari formed CPC, he's the leader of the party.
For APC, it was a merger between his party, CPC, ACN of Bola Tinubu and one other party headed by Ogbonnaya Onu from east.
Please don't feed people with misinformation here, biko.

The man is old and is aware of this. He didn't have many years to wait for a few more veteran members to become presidents and complete 2 terms each before he gets a chance.
He was so desperate to be president that he would have defected to PDP if he thought he stood a chance under the PDP umbrella.

Re: PDP Politicians Take Note: Buhari Didn’t Join PDP When He Couldn’t Beat Them by dayodare49o: 3:44pm On Apr 10, 2015
urnaijadotcom:
We are all familiar with the statement, “If you can’t beat them join them”. A statement that a coward must have come up with during one of those dark periods in human history.

Three times the president-elect, General Buhari, contested against the People’s Democratic Party, three times he failed and each time he contested again until he eventually won.

In 2003 under the banner of the defunct ANPC, he contested against Obasanjo representing the PDP and lost; in 2007 still under the banner of the defunct ANPC, he contested against the late Shehu Musa Yar’adua representing the PDP and lost.

In 2011, he ran the contest as the presidential candidate representing the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and lost again. This time around, to president Goodluck Jonathan whom he eventually defeated in the 2015 presidential contest as the candidate for the APC.

When the president-elect lost the election against Obasanjo in 2003, he challenged the result of the election in Court throughout the duration of Obasanjo’s presidency or as lawyers would put it, until “the matter was overtaken by events”.

Say whatever you like about the man from Daura, he has qualities that only a handful of Nigerian politicians have: patience, endurance, honour and discipline.

Buhari was the only constant opposition candidate in Nigeria for twelve years and some senior PDP politicians are decamping to APC fewer than two weeks after losing the presidential elections.

In his effort to shore up support for APC gubernatorial aspirants, the president-elect may be welcoming PDP defectors but here’s a message to them:

How can you ever gain the respect of a man who was the face of opposition for more than twelve years when you can’t stand by your party two week after you lost an election?

Fleeing PDP politicians have shown Nigerians by their actions that PDP is a party with no ideology full of greedy politicians with no scruples of principles.
Only muguans from the mugu regional part of Nigeria can write this kind of think. I don't know what is civilised about the muguans that some people regarded them as most educated region. If no be say you be illitrate like Adam and Eva you would have known that bokoari will never join a party in which he will not be able to exercise his fascism and authoritarianism. Bokoari will never accept anyone to be superior to him or tell him what to do, instead he would prefer to be isolated. If general bokoari is looking for your favour, he can be gentled and easy going when he gets that think he becomes authoritarian. I know generalboko very well.

see our politicians: INEC Abuja has disqualified Emeka Nnamani APGA candidate for Aba North state constituency. Emeka Nnamani aka Labi, an indigene of Enugu resident in Aba, is among the names of candidates disqualified ahead of tomorrows election.

According INEC on its website, Mr Nnamani after thorough investigation over petitions filed against his eligibility, was discovered not to have a degree from Absu as he claimed. Nnamani was rusticated by the school authority in 1993 over his involvement in cult activities that resulted in the death of two students.

He is also said to be a well known ex convict and a drug dealer. Nnamani has been on the wanted list of the police the website stated.
