Eruditor:Based on finances alone, not yet, sir. Lagos did not get their overnight. So many factors are involved, right from the colonial days. What would you do, as the governor of Akwa-Ibom, to build seaports and attract multinationals to your state? Lagos was a former capital city which hugely accounted for its development, it's not just down to raw cash alone! |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by Eruditor: 2:16pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Whynotthetruth: Add IGR of Akwa-ibom too alongside internal cum external debts. Tell me how far that State should have gone. |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by Eruditor: 2:18pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
slap1: With the resources of the state and closeness to the FG between 1999-2015, shouldn't Akwa-ibom have pushed for a seaport? Is that not what I am talking about when addressing good governance? Do you think good governance is about building a few roads here and there and a stadium? |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by jide333(m): 2:21pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
abokikhalifa: Aboki!. take am easy na? i guess it's the Hausa and Fulani's that are very used to suffering in nigeria.. look at your people and look at the people of Akwa-ibom... guy your people na full of beggers be your people oooh... ahahaaahahaha!! who's buhari going to arrest for that? mumu aboki.. oloshi.. loool |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by slap1(m): 2:21pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Eruditor:The companies were already there and Lagos was automatically going to be developed as a capital and cosmopolitan city. Akwa-Ibom has started by building roads and other basic amenities. The new stadium and international airport will rub off on the state's economy at some point. You don't sleep and wake up to see all that. |

Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by slap1(m): 2:25pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Eruditor:I don't get what you mean by closeness to the FG and you don't get a seaport by pushing for it. It involves some bureaucratic (and ethnic) bottlenecks in this country. Where is the second Niger bridge? |

Code213: hehehehehe...e pain you...pele... but truth is most you due to biased and bigoted mindset cum hatred for individuals for reasons best known to them, simply showcase ignorance and hypocrisy... Judge all of them with same yardstick and you won't see me disturbing your mention...nice day |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by Eruditor: 2:26pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
slap1: No Sir, the companies were not already there. Infact 80% of them came as the city developed. Abuja has been the Country's capital since 1991 and the growth there is not as brisk as Lagos'. Akwa-ibom was carved out of then Cross-Rivers and Cross- Rivers used to be the capital of Nigeria at some point. Let us stop celebrating mediocres as heroes for goodness' sake. |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by Nobody: 2:31pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Eruditor:I bet you've not been to Akwa Ibom before. Has Amaechi been feeding and housing the entire Rivers inhabitants that he can't complete a simple project? Akwa Ibom is more beautiful, well planned and structured than Rivers in all aspects so leave population outta this. I put it up to you that tthe only thing with which Lagos passes Akwa Ibom is the presence of lots of industries and sky scrappers compared to those in the latter but all these put together cannot compete with the revenue generated by the oil in Akwa Ibom. Akwa Ibom has better roads than Lagos, better source of water than Lagos(wells) and all that jazz. Besides, Akwa Ibom is just a baby state compared to old papa Lagos so why should there be rivalling with Lagos? Go to Akwa Ibom and check out things for yourself, you'll see that it is a better environment/place than Lagos and PH. |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by Eruditor: 2:31pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
slap1: The governors of Akwa-ibom especially Akpabio since 1999 have been members of the ruling party and in Akpabio's case, were VERY close to the President. What bottlenecks did he overcome in situating an airport? The failure of the second Niger bridge is still the same issue of bad governance. GEJ claimed the bridge will cost him 130B but he was only able to appropriate 10B in his 5 years as C-in-C. Yet in December of 2014 alone, he approved 320B for oil marketers and their so-called subsidy. This shows you that when a good government pushes for something to be done, they usually get it done. |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by slap1(m): 2:32pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Eruditor: Akpabio is not a mediocre, not by Nigerian standards, and I'm not celebrating him. There are governors who couldn't do projects that are commensurate with the little they receive. |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by Eruditor: 2:36pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Felixsun20: You're talking about the capital of Akwa-ibom which is Uyo. That is where the buck stops. Go to the inner cities and hinterlands and weep. I have forgiven you for telling me to leave population out of it. If one state has 100k Civil servants and another has 2M civil servants, will we judge infrastructural development(s) of both states without factoring that, and how much allocations they received? Akwa-ibom has which better roads than Lagos? They have more than a hundred new road networks? |

slap1: He is a Hero that deserves a Nobel prize by Nigerian standards. That's how convincing and thorough Nigerian standards are. So non-mediocre he was a governor that he had to rig himself to become a senator with 400k votes and then he issued 953k votes to another Nobel prize-deserving President even though both senatorial and presidential elections happened at the same time. Nigeria I hail thee and thy standards! |

I smile when people use Umanah and "Change" in the same sentence. A guy who was the most powerful and influential person in Akpabio's government for six and half years as the SSG, and before then, the commissioner for finance for several years in the Victor Attah administration? And he is the "Change" now because he decamped to the APC? Not that I am a fan of Akpabio who I believe is being celebrated because of the mediocre quality and lack of accountability in leadership that we have become used to. I just think though that It will take a miracle of epic proportions for APC to win Akwa Ibom State. You just need to look back to the presidential elections to know what Gen. Akpabio is capable of doing in the election chess game. |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by Nobody: 3:12pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Eruditor:Oh my! I don't need your forgiveness, the ratio of the civil servnts U just put up there is quite abstract. The civil servants in Aks receive more salaries and allowances thn those in Rivers though the govt owes on rare occasions. I can boldly tell u that the primary school teachers in Aks earn more than some secondary school teachers in Rivers, so how is tthat stopping Akpabio from doing the needful? I believe as a learned person, you don't expect good roads in all the corners of rural areas. Wht is the condition of PH compared to Uyo? Have U been to Mushin and Ajegunle in Lagos? Have U been to Obio/Akpor in Rivers? I am ending this feud here believing that you've only been to just one of the three states in question. 1 Like |

jieta:He is insulting Akpabio perhaps because he has never traveled to other states to compare the performances. I'm not saying Akpabio has not looted or wouldn't have done more but at the level of our development, he is currently the best governor in Nigeria. From 1999 till date, he is only second to Donald Duke of Cross River State. This is raw fact. I think their only reason for hating Akpabio is because he is from a minority ethnic group. |
Re: Akpabio On Buhari's Visit (pic) by Eruditor: 4:11pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Felixsun20: In one sentence, rural areas are allowed to have some bad roads (regardless of the states resources). In another sentence Ajegunle and Mushin should be thrown at the Lagos state Government's face. I lived in one of the states above for 5 years. For another of the states for more than 18 years. You can as well believe that Osama and Obama are related since both words contain 'ama'. That's how valuable what you believe is to me. |
