I think investigating into the past is unrealistic, thus digging into the likes of Tinubu, Amechi, Iweala, GEJ....wouldnt be wise. He is doing the right thing leading by example in declaring his own assets and making it a condition for anybody who would like to be part of his cabinet to do same. And for y'al that dont believe in this change, well you about to witness it. |

Not at all....his out of this World campaign promises MUST BE FULFILLED or else the joke is on APC. Forwetinnah:No matter how much you rant, Buhari still has a lot more to offer than GEJ and PDP will ever have to give. If you can take a few minutes to think, you ought to relise that as a growing democracy we all need the boat rocked a little hard. Majority of APC fans voted for Jonathan against Buhari in 2011 and the same people voted him out. If Buhari doesn't perform, his 4years will be up before you can say "clueless". That's the beauty of democracy. The people have the power and we will continue voting out mediocrity and bad leadership until we vote in the kind of leader Nigeria needs. If Buhari is "the one" he still has until May 29 to begin to prove himself. Until then, the best we can do is set the standard we want from his government |

Nigerians need to take concerted steps to know how the institutions are modeled and work......Since the introduction of the 1979 Constitution and other constitutions it preceded as well as in compliance with the provisions of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.....it has become mandatory for all Senior Civil servants in the employment of the Federal, State and Local Governments to declare their assets once every circle of prescribed number of years until they retire from the public service...... Equally, all public officers holders and appointees engaged and employed in the Federal, State and Local Governments are also mandated to declare their assets prior to their assumption of office and upon either conclusion of their tenures or when they are relieved of their appointments...... These declaration of Assets are done in special forms issued to the specified class of officers, obtained from the Code of Conduct Bureau, duly filled, sworn to before a Judge of the High Court and returned back to the custody of the Bureau within a specified time frame.....The law does not permit for a public declaration of ones' asset as was done by late Pres. Yar' Ardua....... This practice of making the declarations in the specified forms have been enforced with Public officers [both career and political officers holders].....The Tribunal set up under the enabling law does try public officers more particularly career civil servants and public office holders for breaches of the Code of Conduct..... The problem we have often faced is the inability of the Bureau occasioned by poor funding and a dearth of capacity in staffing to verify as at when due the several assets declared to the Bureau by the hundreds of both career civil servants and public office holders to ascertain incidents of breaches of the Code of Conduct.... the situation is further made worse by concerted steps taken by the Government made by the political class to rob both the Code of Conduct Bureau and the Tribunal of its board membership and officers to man the Tribunal......During the OBJ led FG, the Code of Conduct Bureau was the worst for it.....it virtually left with its Present Chairman, who was then the Secretary to the Bureau as the OBJ took no steps to replenish its retiring Board members.... It was the PGEJ led FG that took steps to redress these anomalies in the area of constituting the membership of the Board as well as the Judicial officers to man the Tribunal.... Curiously, playing on the naivety of Nigerians, the President elect is playing on popular sentiments by insisting that pre-assumption declarations would be enforced....knowing too well that the issue has never been with the making of the declarations but rather the inability of the Bureau to verify the claims made in the assets declared by career civil servants and public office holders in purported compliance with the Code of Conduct...... |

t2luv1:You are the one commenting out of the box. I said thank God most of the northerners that own oil blocs supported GEJ and you are here calling Tinubu. When did he become a northerner? Oando is doing great just like Forte, Shell, and Mobil. Nigerians enjoy from them. But the likes of Rahmaniyya, Texaco etc should be nationalized under the NNPC umbrella. That will create a balance between the government and private firms in the oil & gas sector. It will encourage competition and open doors for development. |
