there is nothing like lagos-igbos. Using lagos-igbos makes it look as if they are part of ownership. They are mere immigrants who are looking for pasture in yoruba land. grin

There is no 'Lagos-Yoruba'. There is only 'Lagos' State and the 'Yoruba' tribe.

Lagos as a geographical entity is the home and settlement of a group of people whose ethnic make up are full blooded Yoruba.

'Lagos - Igbo' sounds even more absurd. Igbos are immigrants in Lagos just as they are in other western Nigerian states or any part of the world for that matter..

Lagos is a full fledged Yoruba land, the igbos have no right outside the ones equally enjoyed by other tribes such as the hausas, igala, tiv, idoma, fulanis etc, as immigrants.

The Igbos, as well as other non-Yoruba tribes are nothing but mere economic immigrants within the state.

Nobody is an 'immigrant' in his/her country because no international boundaries were crossed! Any person resident in a place where he is not a native of is regarded as a settler at best. In time, they get integrated with the natives of wherever they are. Igbos have lived in Lagos and wherever they choose to for donkey years, have naturally expanded by reproduction and establishing of businesses and so on. So do u call a child born n bred in Lagos, who probably has no connection to his native land other than bearing 'Chukwudi' or 'Onyinyechi' an immigrant?

The word 'Immigrant' I'm sure, is meant by some to be derogatory but honestly, it is a wrong word-choice and exposes some level of ineptitude or lack of knowledge. Find something else...

If that same Chkwudi or Onyinyechi feels because he was born and bred in Lagos that confers him with 'ownership' or some absurd 'Lagos - Igbo' title and as such feels he's got a right to form a government in Lagos, own traditional titles and foment trouble, then he's not only mistaken, but he's most misguided and needs to be put right in the most 'derogatory' manner possible. His family were not cuffed and chained like slaves and brought to Lagos; they came here seeking greener pasture. In fact, calling him an 'immigrant' is only being generous to say the least.
