In africa, we respect our superiors for who they are, and when they our senior in terms of age, that also requires some form of respect too.

For those of you shouting respect, if this is how you show respect am sorry for you. You had better go get your money back from your school. That your society teaches you that this how you show respect does not mean it is right.

The reason your parents/community sent you to school is to learn and reason like human not swallow everything that society says because society says so.

I hope most of you kids on NL understand human psychology and body language.
how old are you.. No hard feeling,, just being curious.

What are you saying? Are you trying to say we should destroy our culture because we went to school? Education without culture is useless. There's nothing wrong with what Amaechi did. If you must know, Buhari is almost 20yrs older than Amaechi.

I never said what Amaechi did was wrong neither did I say we should destroy our culture. My points are:

Kneeling down, bending over to greet someone does not mean you really respect them. I have seen people bend over to greet elders only to say nasty things behind their back. I have seen people with no regards for people around them kneeling to greet same people for public display.

Respect implies how you treat people irrespective of their age, considering other people's welfare/feelings not necessarily how you greet them.

Because society says we should kneel before adults as a sign of respect does not mean we really respect them by doing that. Respect should be truth to itself rather than public display.

The problem is you misunderstood my position, if you see your dad in the morning and goes on all four just to say good morning only for you to take a joy ride in his car in his absence without asking, that shows you have no respect for him whatsoever.

It has nothing to do with how you greet him but how you respect him as a person both when he is around and when he is not.

So are you now in Amaechi's mind to know he's deceiving Nigerians? Your first post sounded as if what Amaechi did is a sin to both man and God. My dear, every person deserves the right to respect and greet people the way it so pleases him or her.

Gbawe:
Amaechi is being respectful. I like him a lot as he has not let the fact he controls the destinies of many and literally billions of dollars blind him from what Nigeria needs. Amaechi will go down in history as one of the champions of democracy and a pivotally brave figure who stood up to be counted when Nigeria needed to defeat an ultra-corrupt and hideously terrible leader who was on course to making Nigeria a failed State like Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq et al.
Gbawe, I agree we were on course to becoming a failed state, but how I wish u never stated the fact. Referencing ( u knw who am talking of ?). And truly Ameachi is a diamond in the mist of many who is duly on course to becoming an ICON.
Cos, he choose to do the right thing at the expense of riches.
GOD Bless Nigeria and our new faces of leaders.
GOD Bless Nigerian's also.
In GOD we trust. Stay Blessed every1.
