Hello Guys, I saw this thread because I wanted something better than DSTV. I must say that many of those who comment or open threads on this section are not helpful, but quite a few go a long way. Based on this, I decided to read a couple of threads though I am still confused, but I picked a few things, went to google and expanded the research. I can confirm now that I can watch Sky channels and some other foreign stations on my Macbook Pro via Kodi TV. However, I have not been able to move this to my TV and there are still challenges of internet speed. I have threatened my ISP and they have responded better by increasing my speed to up to 4 - 5mpbs, however, I still get a few buffering challenges. I would be glad if I can get a powerful IPTV decoder and connect it to my TV, likewise ensure that no buffering problems occur.

Below are a few of the channels I can view.

I forgot to add that business took me to Alaba today and my God, the traffic is something else. I don't think I will repeat my visit. I asked around and was told they cannot get me an IPTV decoder and nobody in the market watches Sky TV. I don't know if this is true but because I was not there primarily for decoders, I could not investigate further.

Apple got too innovative and decided to take out HDMI ports from their macbooks. So unfortunately, I don' t have a HDMI port. I would prefer a decoder because it would make it better. Can you help please?

What you need is an Android box. I will post links later. Price range from 50 to 150 us dollars depending on specs.

If you still want to connect a MacBook to a hdmi port, then you need something like this a mini display adapter

Not common but google "konga Android box" you might see some.
You can also buy from that link too or use a big China merchant site to buy.

It works like an Android device with kodi /xbmc installed. You can install programs from playstore, watch YouTube, even read your mails on your TV. It is a supersmart device and needs lots of data.
Data consumption is not fixed. It's higher for HD channels. Average should be from 250mb to 500mb per hour.

On a serious note, it consumes data and requires high-speed internet especially for High Definition (HD) content . I want to discuss with my ISP today to increase my speed to 30mbps. According to reviews, 30mbps seems to be the minimum for HD content and most of the content/channels are HD, some are even 4Ks (4 times HD). Why I am interested in this because of space for a 4.5 - 5 meter dish (I don't want issues with neighbours) and also IPTV is the future of television. I understand Apple is working seriously on TV content and in the next 10 years IPTV will surmount regular terrestrial and satellite Television.

I must confess that I was able to get the regular foreign stations like Sky Movies, Fox Movies, MBC e.t.c and the regular shows like Games of Thrones, Mad Men, Blue Blood, The Big Band theory, Breaking Bad, N.C.I.S, The Simpsons etc and New Movie releases are also stored up on Kodi/XMBC. Since I started researching on it, I have been amazed and hooked. However, like I complained, many contents are HD contents though some have Standard Definition or low-quality content. Hence, it requires super fast internet connection and plenty of Gigabytes.

From my personal research, reviews and channels content observed from my laptop, I think I would give it a trial; because the channel contents are better than DSTV's contents, crispier in terms of picture quality and it is free too. You only worry about Internet subscription and speed. On the other hand, I am still contemplating on which Android TV box is the best and if it is readily available in Nigeria.

How about this?
This is good but remember this one is an Android box and the other one you posted is an iptv and Android box.
The difference is the iptv box has a separate dedicated server while the Android box works with xbmc.

The dedicated iptv server would work all the time without much customisation to the box and all the regular channels will be available all the time while the Android box will require some level of computer literacy to use its function to the fullest.

From the look of things this seems to be the next phase in terms of quality sports, am waiting patiently for more info.

I kind of like where this Android box ish is heading towards, With olweb and sport TV I watch life matches on my android phone, but with these dedicated boxes that has the ability to transmit to your TV, I know things are definitely going to be more interesting.

I have not gotten mine yet. I am combining with a lot of items before importing them into Nigeria.

I will send some recommended box later. The one I used earlier is for my colleague and may have to test it one more time to write more on it.
