Covenant University for the third consecutive time, has emerged tops in the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (PRESSID).

It was learnt that the university produced 11 First Class graduates among the 102 successful candidates for the 2015/2016 academic session of the programme.

While disclosing this at a staff meeting the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, said this has again validated the excellent academic programmes of the University.

According to him, the university is coming closer to actualizing its vision of being among the best 10 universities in the world by the year 2022.

He added that the success has proved that the University is hinging closer to the realization of her vision to be listed among the 10 leading universities in the world by the year 2022.

PRESSID was instituted by the Federal Government of Nigeria as part of efforts to develop a critical mass of professionals who would serve as catalysts of change and agents of scientific and technological advancement, as well as sustainable economic development.

The Scheme sponsors selected first class graduates from any recognized and approved university in the country for postgraduate studies in the top 100 universities in the world.

lol I am from Covenant University, I know the 1st and 2nd edition of pressid CU had d highest i think 10 and 11 respectively (minister of power said this during my graduation), this 3rd edition I only saw my name and 4 others i know from my dept in CU maybe there are other people from CU that weren't in my dpt and I didn't or don't know their names; and our VC won't lie trust me

And people deemed it fit to call them glorified secondary school, well they are now basking in Glory.

Federal universities cannot do as well as covenant because they are not well funded.

After all...when you pay N45,000 per annum...you get a N45,000 education. When you pay N500000 per annum...naturally the quality goes up.

If you want your federal unis to do well....pay higher fees for good facilities, and even better lecturers. Or get your government to find an extra N10 trillion naira in the next few years.

Your English is a disaster.

Kindly request for a refund of the outrageous fees paid by your parents.

This further buttresses the fact that CU and their likes are nothing but dumping grounds for candidates who are intellectually handicapped to meet up with admission requirements of Federal and State universities.

They use ''good grades'' to compensate parents and sponsors for exorbitant fees paid to acquire certificates their wards can hardly defend.

utter rubbi$h, is it every parent that can pay such an amount? Some parents don't earn up to that amount in a year.
