And what would recalling of envoy do? Peope have to respect you for recalling of envoy to be a big thing. . . We need to work on our image as a country and charity definitely begins at home in that regard. Until Nigeria is cleaned up no one is taking it seriously.

Infact Nigeria should start placing some kind of sanctions on some of these misbehaving African countries just as USA does,as Big brother country.

Payback.....thats why we are the Giant. Just watch other African countries will follow Nigeria's action.

That giant thing is played out, nobody gives a hoot. Besides some other countries had already recalled their ambassadors before now.

We should all realise that our giant of Africa title came about as a result of our large population. It's the British that lumped these many ethnic groups into one nation - we didn't achieve it by ourselves. That's hardly something to beat one's chest about in today's world.

Because obviously not all immigrants are viewed equal, some are viewed more favourable than others. The anger was against foreigners yet when you look at the "foreigners" attacked they seem to come from particular countries so it would seem to me not all foreigners are equal. Does this excuse the killings? No. But I think there is a larger discussion to be had about poorly run countries rich in resources and "potential" like Nigeria that render a huge number of it's citizens as economic migrants due to poor conditions back home. And no, that "giant of Africa" thing chiefly due to our population does not pull as much respect as you think. It is one thing to be noticed and quite another to be respected as a nation. Again, not condoning the massacres.

The Nigerian government has recalled the country’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Martin Cobham, and his deputy, Uche Okeke, in protest against continued attacks on Nigerians and other foreign nationals by locals in the country.

The Minster of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, in a statement Saturday, said the envoys were summoned for consultation in connection to the violence.
The statement read, “The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali, has summoned for consultation, Nigeria’s senior diplomats on tour of duty in South Africa. These are the Acting High Commissioner in Pretoria, Ambassador Martin Cobham, and the Deputy High Commissioner in Johannesburg, Ambassador Uche Ajulu-Okeke.
“The invitation is in connection with the ongoing xenophobia in South Africa targeting foreigners, mainly African migrants.

“It will be recalled that the current spate of attacks began about three weeks ago, and have so far claimed some seven lives, destruction of property and created fear and uncertainty in the minds of African migrants in the former apartheid enclave.

“The South African President, Mr. Jacob Zuma, has condemned the attacks in a statement presented to the South African National Assembly. Ditto for the Zulu Monarch, Goodwill Zwelithini, whose alleged inciting comment provoked the attacks. Well meaning South Africans have also organised peace marches against xenophobia.”

Isn't this too late for that, well, violents have ended long ago, now nigerians react very late. No one will call them back.

Do you think they would, especially nigerians, going back to poverty isn't an option. If you are not aware, SA can sustain itself, they produce almost everything. Aparthein and sunctions talk us to be self sufficient.

Isn't Nigeria that went to SA to beg for more investments by SA companies to nigeria? If you wanna chase away FDI's into Nigeria, go that route. Biggest contributors of FDI's in Nigeria are USA, CHINA, SOUTH AFRICA. You chase SA companies, you chase all companies in Nigeria. You would ge setting a bad precedent. USA and Chinese companies would disinvest in a fear of loosing their investments. Remember SA companies still make majority of their profits in SA. Even the very MTN that is accused every day n night here, makes more money in SA than in nigeria, if you dispute that, go and cgeck their financial results for 2014. Nigeria is not the only country to invest in, actually we are focussing on China these days. Maybe you need to google NASPERS owners of multichoice and SABMILLER. Did you know in 2012 South Africa was a biggest invester in Africa, beating the likes of USA AND CHINA.

we are putting more of our investments to china, we realised putting money in africa is like throwing money into an open pit. No protection of our investments, look when the whole continent economic growth drops due to lack of SA investments. Even your government knows these, hence their late actions just to look like they are doing something, i tell you, within 2 weeks those envoys will be back in SA.

Not sure what cave you crawled out of, but ''in today's world'', a huge population allied to rapid economic expansion, such as exemplifies Nigeria, IS a determining factor when assessing a nation's calibre in the comity of nations. Whether Nigeria was a British or Martian colony, it matters zero in relation to her being today Africa's economic powerhouse. The USA was once a British colony too.

''According to the US Department of Agriculture, Nigeria is poised to become Africa’s first trillion dollar economy by 2030''.

The question would be, what does states have that SA does not have. I have never seen a South African saying "I m moving to the USA" for what? Same lifestyle i can live in the USA i can also live it in SA or even better.

You think these foreigners are just moving to a poor country. Ask youself, why they dont move to sudan or DRC or even Nigerial
