APC just released a statement saying all accredited
media, including AIT, are free to cover President-elect’s
activities. Read below...
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said
that all accredited media organizations in the
country, including the African Independent Television (AIT), are free to cover the activities
of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its
National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai
Mohammed, the party said the incoming Buhari
Administration will not discriminate against any media organization, irrespective of its role during
the electioneering campaign leading up to the
recent polls.
It however enjoined all media organizations to observe
the highest level of professional standards in carrying
out their duties. ”There is a Code of Ethics guiding the practice of
journalism in Nigeria, and this demands every journalist
to ensure a strict adherence to the highest levels of
ethics and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
”There must be repercussions, within the realms of the
law, for media organizations which have wantonly breached the Code of Ethics of the journalism
profession and turned themselves to partisans instead
of professionals. But such repercussions will not
include barring any accredited media organization from
covering the activities of the President-elect,” APC said.

abi o...the only press members that have 100% rights to cover state functions are state house correspondents..and as far as this is concerned...the state house correspondents are with Mr President and not president elect. Any press coverage outside the banner or state house correspondence must be with due invitation or privileges. AIT had better read the code very well.

and enough already with this ethics crap. I am yet to hear of anything AIT said in the documentary that was false.... moreover... isn't the ethics of a muslim or culture different from that of a Christian and particular different culture?

AIT as the press informed and educated Nigerians and we are grateful. Buhari is still the same old man Nigerians were warned about. He's just beginning. Goodluck Nigeria.. or should I say.. Buhari('s) Nigeria is the new Nigeria.. you guys should enjoy.

1. Fela NEVER mentioned Buhari in $N2.8B scandal. He mentioned OBJ. AIT edited that part off.

2. Buhari did not expel Ghanians from Nigeria. Shagari of the NPN did. AIT made a FALSE assertion.

9. AIT/GEJ criticised Buhari for Heading PTF Board. Whereas, PTF is till date the most successful parastatal ever in Nigeria. Through PTF, the Amazon Dora Akunyili was known.

Vote for GMB/APC for Change in Nigeria. PDP propaganda is distasteful and obscene. Should be condemned by all.

The AIT documentary on Buhari will not make him less popular. President Jonathan is still playing catch up...

Okay, thanks for that; however, I don't know if AIT did this or not, but usually, a sponsored documentary like that should have the disclaimer that "This is a sponsored documentary. the contents do not reflect the opinion of the station... " or something to that effect. I am sure he knows it was PDP that sponsored the documentary.... barring a station is simply impeding press freedom... if he is allowed to get away with it... then what would be next? newspapers where those that disagree with him will begin being hounded and media offices being banned? This should be nipped in the bud asap cause ... we are going back to the 80s it seems.. I hope not anyways.

The moment he bought that Presidential form to run for office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the most populous black country/Giant of Africa, He became a public servant. All eyes are on every aspect of his life. His decision will definitely be seen as that of the Nation. So my friend, he acted as a private person only to himself which is selfish considering he has over 7 million persons to report to.

Kindly tell him, there are courts in this country, he should seek redress there. Shey u people were happy when a foreign media house interviewed a Nigerian Military officer, shey what they reported was true abi and we all loved them for that..

Journalism has ethics but these days people careless bout their sources but only their stories..That is why CNN can label Niger as Nigeria and we relax and watch..
