Has God Stopped Listening To Us by gsainttrinity(op): 12:23pm On Apr 29, 2015
Never has it been in our history as a country has a sitting president sort the approval of God to help retain his position as the number one person as did our dear Goodluck Jonathan.
We watched him call on every church assembly anywhere within the length and breath of the federation from the popular ones like ''winners chapel and RCCG'' to the not too popular ones in remote areas in Otuoke.
Interestingly he was loved in return with one of his closest persons being members of the clergy like the influential Ayo Oritsejafor. The president visited Jerusalem, had the privilege of having the most anointed Nigerian pastors lay hands on him as individuals and group. To many faith-fools like myself, his victory in the polls was certain I mean who can change what God has ordained according to the numerous prophecies.

Come march 29th, we watched in helplessness something that has never happened in our country unfold before our very eyes. "Jonathan" LOST his incumbency to the opposition who is a 'muslim'. Now that was significant. GOD did not answer our prayers. Even if he, God refused us our request what of those of the Bishops, Cardinals, apostles and prophets? They all got deafening and embarrassing rejection.
Reminds me of a popular Episode in the Bible where Ahab consulted the prophets and they were all singing his praise of victory whereas God's approved death awaited him.

Now to answer the question if God had actually stopped listening, I would have to ask a corresponding question
"Was God ever listening to Us at all?"

God is like an Umpire in the fight between Good and evil, between christians and Muslims, between this or that because as we all know and agree, God is the creator of everything.
God is God because of his neutrality in matters that concerns our selfish and personal fulfillment. Imagine God taking sides in matters that divides us as humans whether in the very controversial issues of whether Homosexuality should be practiced or not, or whether migrants should be granted asylum or not, there and then God would loss his credibility as God just as an umpire would loss his credibility when he decides to front for one of the contending opponents.

It should not come as surprise where non believing societies like china and Russia tend to prosper much more than staunchly pious societies like ours here in Nigeria.
The chinese does not need Marathon Night vigils to unleash the miracle of abundant blessings. They currently have more than a hundred Billionaires in dollars.

In Nigeria every sunday we are inundated with testimonies of some very few who claim God has blessed them with multi million naira jobs "glory be to God" but what we fail to ask ourselves, what happens to the remaining thousands in the congregation without jobs or food to eat. Does it mean that God hates them?

If we as a society must escape the Jonathan syndrome, we must banish the thought or action of an unnecessary reliance on "God" to perform any magic because with or without any divine hobnob we could as a people prosper as long as we put into practice the universal principle for success.

I know many would want to argue that I am demeaning christianity and religion in general, but I am saying is that whatever religion we choose to follow, it should be a thing for the mind only not something to replace the position of common sense, reality and responsibility.

Finally, God has not stopped listening because he was not even listening.

I know it would break many peoples heart but that's the truth.

Indeed, who can change what God has ordained?

The results of the election just proved that God can never be mocked and that God loves Nigeria more than we think we do. Jonathan was probably ordained and anointed by God in 2010 to lead Nigeria out of backwardness, poverty and stagnation, but what did he do?... As soon as he got in, he turned his back on God and on the masses of Nigeria and took sides with the same set of cabals whom have impoverished and imprisoned the nation for decades. Not more than once we heard cases of billions upon billions in dollars being looted under his watch but his only reaction was to come on TV to lie, defend and protect the very beasts holding the nation down. It got to a ridiculous extent when even whistle blowers were victimised for speaking out and every single genuine complaint about corruption was dismissed as politics. The same Jonathan also succeeded in dividing Nigeria sharply along religious and ethnic lines by hypnotising the SE and SS not to see any single thing wrong in his maladministration.

Jonathan squandered the goodwill he enjoyed freely from the people and the anointing he enjoyed from God. Just like King Saul in the bible, the anointing was withdrawn in the most dramatic manner; Nigerians saw an incumbent president lose an election. God had clearly ordained someone else to navigate us out of our mess, have you ever wondered how the unpopular and perpetually unelectable mallam suddenly became popular early this year?... Indeed, who can change what God has ordained?... God doesn't always give you want you want (cos it could destroy you), God gives you what you need.

Well I'm not the least surprised at the comments here.

I'm not saying God does not answer prayers but most times only us can answer our prayers.

And we should stop vouching for a God we can not prove his existence or location!

I don't have to bribe God, I only need to prove it exist.

Can you prove it was God's will? Or is its will flexible enough to assume the outcome of whatever whether or not it contradicts previous position?

This topic should be moved first to the Religion Section for people learn that 'faith without works is dead'

This topic should then be moved to the homepage

I am not a prophet so I cannot categorically confirm if it's God's will. But Jonathan had clearly overstepped his boundaries and overstayed his welcome. For anyone who is informed of the happenings in Nigeria and who has risen above the level where his/her judgement is beclouded by silly sentiments, it was crystal clear that a single extra day of Jonathan would have spelt doom for Nigeria... and then suddenly, we get a miraculous case of an incumbent president losing a presidential election in Africa. What else could be a better example of the HAND OF GOD?!

I hope you would get my point,

Many Nigerian prophets predicted jonathan victory but we all know the outcome.
God should have just been plain with his mouthpieces.
Honestly speaking there is no hand work of God. Things always happen by the virtue of what we do about and how. God does not play any role in anything that goes on here on earth. Unless God is Nature then it is understandable.

In a nutshell there is no God!

OP you are so right in your observations. However All successful cultures have a religion. China's religion is Confucianism. Japan's religion is Shintoism. Where is our Blackman/African religion? ANSAR,ASET, and HERU must walk again for Africa to become strong again.

Hey. There is a God.

That things didn't move the way u wanted it shouldn't make u conclude there is no God. Have u thought about killings that would have happened had GEJ emerged winner ? Do u know what God has in store for us with the new administration ? Do u know His plans, what He intends doing with the new administrtion, for or against a region ? His ways are not our ways. That u breath and can lose dat life when u do not even know, and have no power for everlasting life here on earth simply point to having a Being who owns everything and shares as He wants.

Consider the harmony in which nature operates, the light, the darkness, limits of everything. All shows that they are all under a limitless power.

If Buhari comes as a blessing so be it and if he will be a curse, so be it too.

OP, down here in South East, major prayer point before the election was for a bloodshed free election and not even GEJ's victory though many had that in mind while praying. Pple were afraid of violence after the election, afraid of lives that will be lost, and maybe He answered that point pple were mostly afraid of. Who knows, what we would have gained through GEJ, we will still gain through GMB having avoided the blood shed.

Cheer up man.

Lol...like say ee get time wey god been dey listen to you.

The result you get from bowing down to a carved stone and asking the stone to heal a cancer patient is the same result you will get from praying and asking God to heal a cancer patient.
