No doubt, Jonathan has a point there. I know that Jonathan still has some regrets about not enforcing some reforms because of his failed attempt bt a second term. We may not make any progress if the incoming govt does ones not find the guts to administer painful reforms in subtle doses. From scrapping the presidential amnesty programme to removing subsidy; from reducing the costs of governance to plugging avenues of wastage in the civil service; from withdrawing from sponsoring pilgrims to over-staffing MDA's; from strengthening the judiciary to dealing ruthlessly with criminals; from reforming the NNPC, CBN, FIRS, Customs, Immigration to dealing with people with cases of corruption against them. I hope Buhari finds the courage to push through with these.

Some of the comments here make it appear many Nairalanders are slightly older than 6 years of age.

The mere mention of sacrifice precipitates heavy abuse. I really pity the incoming president, i hope he does not come to regret taking on this challenge(though he actually deserves anything he gets on account of the insincere promises that formed the basis of his campaigns).

But seriously, are Nigerians believing we can develop without painful sacrifice? Is change possible if we (all of us) dont change our ways? can we actually continue paying the civil service (who consist less than 1% of our population) over 70% of our National budget? By the way do you know labor is preparing to ask for further wage increases?

Which country in the world has achieved positive change by sitting back and folding their arms and had change delivered at their door steps?

Finally i think we should realize that while GEJ may not have met many people's expectations, 99% of our problems today were there before he came and when the new government comes in after May 29, we will soon understand that it takes more than a wave of hand to address them.

Best regards fellow countrymen.

Campaign is over. The truth is finally coming out.

Meanwhile Okonjo Iweala didn't seem to get the memo.

She is still singing that Nigeria is heading to el Dorado.

Even when available facts point to the contrary.

This is what happens in a country where certificates are valued more than substance; degrees more than experience.
