to my fellow nairalanders, i need an advice.... Sigh! I met with a bae on my way to lecture this morning, i introduced myself to her, we discussed. She even asked about my department. Hence, i collected her phone flashed my No. So that i can have her No. Aftermath, i logged in my whatsApp, then i typed to her: whatsup bae... Immediately she blocked me... One thing i observed was that. She was very friendly when we were chatting physically.. Is she upto something? Please i need advice

This guy's trip to Ghana in 2007 has proved to be a success.
He dropped out of the University of Cape Coast after one year and joined musical groups (especially Dancehall bands) in Accra. He used that opportunity to develop himself in that act. Today, he is the best dancehall act from Nigeria.

Reminds me of similar sojourn by Fela when he went and stayed in Ghana(1967-69) to understudy and learn Afro sounds which where making waves in the 1960s. He joined and played with several afro-centric bands across Ghana, including a band called Hedzolleh (means ''peace, calm, easy in Ga language) which he joined alongside Hugh Masekela from South Africa.

Ghana was the heartbeat of Africa in terms of music, entertainment and politics at that time and the ''afro'' movement/consciousness was the vogue back then as it was a kind of search for unique African identity or rejection of colonial influences by Africans. Virtually anything that was in vogue then was called ''afro''.....afro wig, afro maxi, afro hairstyle, afro fashion etc.

Highlife was blended/mixed with traditional African instruments, percussions, rhythms etc to create a different style of music called afro sounds/music. Fela tapped heavily into this and when he came back to Nigeria in 1970, he announced that is style of music is now Afrobeat.
Back then, Fela used to play a lot of traditional Ghanaian drums and instruments that he brought with him. While many of the earlier afro bands in Ghana faded away due to varied factors, Fela stuck with it and his social crusade against injustice, bad governance and military rule, eventually made him the greatest afrobeat musician.
