Aliko Dangote Confirms Interest In Buying Arsenal FC by Truth234(m): 8:04am On May 05, 2015 |
Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has said he still wants to buy Arsenal despite failing in a 2010 bid to acquire a stake in the club. The Nigerian billionaire is now worth nearly eight times as much as when he tried to buy into the Gunners, and the passionate Gooners has not given up on his dream of getting involved with the north London club. “I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team,” Dangote, 58, told Bloomberg. “I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist," he continued, before ominously adding, "I know my strategy. Interestingly, Dangote has publically stated that Arsene Wenger “needs to change his style a bit,” claiming the team "need new direction.” but his bid to take over the club won't be coming immediately, with the cement and commodities tycoon wanting to get his portfolio of businesses in order first. “We have $16 billion-worth of investments in the next few years,” he said. “Right now I want to take my own business to a certain level. Once I finish on that trajectory, then maybe [an offer will follow.]" Majority owner Kroenke recently bought more shares in Arsenal, and is not believed to have any interest in selling the club. Dangote - valued at over US$15billion - is worth more than both Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke and Uzbek Billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who have been fighting for control at the Emirates in recent years. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/africas-richest-man-confirms-interest-5637493 1 Share

derrick333: And where is the demand? The issue is not investing, the issue is there is no demand for leisure of such capacity in Nigeria. Whites don't need to be rich to have fun and can clear afford club merchandise. Our income per head is just too low. You think Dangote is thinking about the people first? Its Supply and Demand first ! |

Instead of buying a top european club, he should invest in the NPFL or buy a Nigerian club.It might not give him the quick profit he seeks now but will surely do on the long run.It will be great for Nigerian football and other investors will start looking at the NPFL. |

Krasid: derrick333: Truth234:Aliko Dangote was born in the ancient city of Kano. The same city is the base of NPFL champion Kano Pillars who has won the league 3 consecutive times. Where is the Demand? You don't expect an high demand for a Non-Lucrative goods, product or services but you can still generate a reasonable sale of the product depending on the effort you add on it such as advertisement, promo, etc. Despite the our league not being lucrative enough, Kano Pillars generate an average of 25,000 fans at the Sanni Abacha Stadium in every home match. The lowest turn out last season was 20,000. With report I have with me, gate ticket is sold for atleast N100 for the popular stand and sometimes, it is reviewed upward considering the importance of the match. This means the club generate atleast N2,000,000 on every matchday not considering the price for the VIP stand and State box. If Dangote buys Kano Pillars and he is able to bring some development to the club such as: * Extending their Stadium to 60,000 capacity with modern facilities such as LED digital advertisement board, Desso Master grass, etc. * Bringing in Modern training and fitness facilities to the club to sustain Player's fitness. * Creating better welfare for the club players, coach and managment * Acquring and Signing foreign star and great talent from european leagues. ( those that are signable) * Creating enabling environment for club fans and supporters. * Providing necessary equipment for the team, the coach crew, the medical and the backroom staffs. * Establishing a youth academy with expertize youth coaches to bring out future star for the club. * Employing necessary staffs a proffessional club should have such as Media Officer, Fitness Officer, Security, etc. * ETC. If the above is done a Kano Pillars FC is a certified proffesional club of international standard. The club's revenue will increase. With Dangote's connection, the club will get more private sponsor which will boost their revenue and the league standard. Kano State has the population 12 million people while the city of Kano has the population of 3 million people. If all the above are done uprightly, generating 60,000 fans on matchdays will not be an Herculean task if they generate 25,000 at the moment. That's also a boost to the league itself. Consider the situation whereby every single club in the league cultivate this act, You and I know how lucrative the league will be. We will have the most lucrative league in africa ahead of PSL of South Africa and Egyptian League. Not only Pillars have reasonable attendance at the moment, club like Enyimba, Shooting Stars, Heartland, Wikki Tourist, Rangers and Kwara United also gain resonable spectator but not as massive as that of Kano Pillars Though, Aliko Dangote is entitle to his own opinion. The money belongs to him and he can do whatever he likes with. He might not care about the league nor Kano Pillars. Let's not forget charity begins at home and moreover, Dangote's product are mostly consumed in Nigeria. |
