Countdown To Mother's Day- We Salute These Mothers by Mamagidi(op): 6:39pm On May 06, 2015
On Sunday, the tenth of May, 2015, a generous number of the world's population will be celebrating mothers. Even though we agree that Mothers should be celebrated ALWAYS, it is quite fair that a day has been dedicated to celebrate one of the (if not the) greatest gifts of nature. As a count down, we're taking time to salute Mothers, especially those whose pains transcend the agonies of labour.

Our focus here is on Mothers who have lost their children. Have you ever wondered why there is no name to classify such loss? We've heard of Widows, Orphans, but can we find a name to classify a mother's loss of her child? Not Yet (or maybe Not Ever!). The pain, the agony is unclassifiable.

We, being aware of the continuous onslaught of children (be it racist, xenophobic, accidental, genocidal, infanticidal, whatever classifications they be named under), salute mothers who have lost children to any of these. We salute mothers who have watched life slip out of their young ones.

We salute them because;

They are mothers!
They are an exceptional kind of mothers.
Such loss is irreplaceable.
No one can fathom the depths of the sorrow within.
Some of them have managed to smile through the storm.
Some of them have come out as strong pillars and great influencers to generations.
Some of them never gave in to the pressure.
Some of them laboured for their children in a way many may not understand.
The memory lingers forever
They chose to live through it all.

We also salute those who could not live to bear the pain because it is unimaginable. As we celebrate mothers around the globe, let's remember these mothers and show them that though, we may not know or understand their pain, our hearts are still very much with them.

What else do you think we should salute them for? Feel free to share your views.
