Yes. God's will for hezekiah was death at the time. but hezekiah wept and prayed an additional 15 years into his life. That's the reason I get mad when people give up and let themselves die before their time. I've survived a terminal illness and I'm still alive. I'm not in a hurry to die. They that know their God shall do exploits. When you know what God's word says concerning your situation and you hold Him by His words, He has no choice than to comply because na Him talk am. and Him no dey lie. Christianity is sweet.

During our Sunday school service in church today, this question was being asked by one of our members and it leads to a serious argument. So, I've decided to share the same question with you guys also.

Is it possible to change God's will through prayer?

your opinions are highly welcome.

GOD has just one will and wish for everyone of us.. "I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, ... saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. ...."Jeremiah 29:11

It is now our choice to define our path and ask GOD for the ability to accomplish whichever way we decide to prosper and even if you choose the bad path,GOD will still honor your choice.

We have the choice to make our own will within the confines of GODs prosperity

There is a Perfect Will of God for us.

Often times God grants us "permissive will" due to our insistence impatience.

It is far best and glorious for God's Perfect Will to prevail rather than His permissive will.
what do you have to say about amputees?

You survived that illness not because you changed God's will but only because your time is not up. Bro, if your time is up, if you like pray from now till infinity.... You will leave this earth. This is one of the reasons I pity Christians... Ignorance at its peak. So, you really think that all these people that die in accidents that none of them prayed before embarking on a journey? Or in Nepal where ten thousand died? You guys dont really understand what is happening in this world.
Don't be stup*d pls, if u are not a Christian then ur teachings are not the same with ours.if only I know ur religion I wud have know how to tackle ur illness.

If one can't change or temper god's will through prayer, it only confirms that prayers are redundant.
It also highlights and confirms that lack of faith and doubts underpins prayer.
And of course, that humans , despite all the noise and lies they tell themselves, are really clueless about the will of a god whom they are so sure exists.

Prayers, in an ironic twist, betrays the faith that underpins it.

And while we are on the topic of prayers, I am asking for the millionth time: What is the difference between prayers and SPECIAL PRAYERS?

Doesn't " Special prayers" showcase the smoke and mirrors nature of religious faith ?

Why in the world would you want to change Gods will. Don't you know his will is always better for us
but the bible says, seek you shall find, knock, the door shall be open for you, ask, and it shall be given unto youhuhdoes it mean that everything we ask of has automatically become God's will....If you said God's will cannot be changed through prayers, that means that our prayer intentions are nullified.....there are knowledge we shldnt seek tho',especially religious knowledge, cux u won't get any tangible explanation but enough confusion to cloud your mind..

I thought they said he has everything all planned out, why then expect prayers to change'em. Since he knows the begining and the end. What's the use of prayers.
Because you have the power to "choose"...remember that always...there's always a choice

Kay17:
It should depend on how perfect God's will is. Wills do change in order to avert error, and if God sees his will contains errors, prayers might shed light to this and God would then change.
If Jesus couldn't change the will of God for him, then no man can, who is man to change the will of God!!!!!!

The statement that he has everything all planned out negates that I have the power to choose.

His thoughts (will) for us are good and not evil, to enable us have an expected end.

If you want to change the good plans, yes you can pray for it.

God sees everything that was, that is and that will be. So His will cannot contain errors. Perhaps he may test us (for our benefit and the benefit of others) but he already knows the result!

First and foremost, we know that God's will is good...that there is no shadow of turning.

It therefore adds that all he wants for his creation is the best.

The reason we pray is not so we can force God's hands or make him change his mind.

It is to align our will with his, so that it can come to pass in our lives.

The earlier we start walking in the awareness that the force in us is greater than that in the world, the better.

Awareness makes all the difference, we have been imbued with the same source.

I think you need to pray for forgiveness.

Is GOD a man that you could correct HIM?
Will you understand HIS errors?
Will you correct the ALMIGHTY?

God's will only exists in your mind. An excuse for lazy people.

soe:
No

As human beings...we have no power over our worldy affairs. We only have power over our situation in the hereafter (heaven/hell matters)

I will explain.

.if you will be rich on earth...it will definitely come to pass...
But you being patient or you going for money rituals/armed robbery is your choice. That's your way of choosing heaven or hell.

If you will be sick at some point...you will be sick...ypu can't escape it.
But you deciding to stand with God in sickness or rushing to false deities for help is your own way of choosing heaven/hell.

If you will be the president ... It will come to pass definitely.
But, you deciding to wait on God, or assasinating whomever you see as an opponent is your choice of heaven/hell.

To cut the long story,

God has advised us...be patient..in every situation..it is only a test..not even a leaf falls from the tree without God's permission...what is yours will always be yours..

Your own concern should be "am I standing with God at all times??"
That is where prayer comes in. Prayer only helps us to stand firmly in faith...in rememberance...in trust.. It makes us closer to God, so that we feel His hand, we feel His presence, so that we know it's only a test.

In good times, give Him all praise.
In sad times, do the same.

But above all...Trust in God...He has the best plan for you.

I knew it! Even right from the top tale of this excerpt I knew it has been culled from the Qur'an. Please do some assignment bro. Ask these question when you get a good scholar to educate you enough. Why is Islam basically logic? Why do you agree that diseases cant be averted? Time cant be changed, death cant be averted, porverty is a crown. Why do you pray , if things were meant to be is to be? And finally what is your faith built uponhuh

i just explained in my post why you pray. Take your time to digest it. I did not say time or death cannot be averted...ofcourse God does miracles... But when death is averted...it shows to you that God had never permitted death to occur at that time. It may have seemed to man that it was about to occur...but God sees the beginning and the end..and He alone has knowledge of it all. The entire episode of life has been long written..and the ink is dried...i already mention that you only have power to choose yoir hereafter...and that is why we pray..we pray so that satan does not mislead us. We pray so that we stand firmly in God for guidance to the right path. And you ask what faith in islam is built on...it is built on Trust in God. His plans are the best for us...but...to keep that trust in your heart, you need to consistently pray to Him
