Five days ago, President Goodluck Jonathan, in his infinite wisdom appointed his Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Asabe Asmau Ahmed as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF). But the ousted Mrs. Sharon Adefunke Kasali who had been Executive Secretary of PEF since 2007 was not done. She returned to office after the announcement to approve some N6bn for payment to clients of the PEF.
There might be unanswered questions about why the President suddenly realised his Almighty power to remove and install new helmsmen in strategic agencies of state at the twilight of his tenure, but Mrs Kasali, has challenge him to an impunity bout with her reported act.
Kasali reportedly arrived PEF office with a group of armed policemen to guard her office. The police, it was said, removed all employees on her floor in an attempt to veil her actions and it was done under the watchful eyes of the Head of Human Resources, Richard Emekhaghor.
Even if they lied against her that as ES, she sidetracked due employment processes and handpicked select individuals to work with her in the Finance, Budget, and IT departments, her last dance was a naked one in the market place.
When asked by curious journalists, she gave them her cold shoulder because this is Nigeria, where anything goes.
“She is still in the office until now and has approved payments worth N6billion since she was removed,” a source was quoted as saying.
