Several times on the forum, I have tried to promote what we should advocate for our governments to do on issues like this. It is not enough to have money to go India for a transplant or for one treatment or the other. We should be able to have good insurance schemes, so that most Nigerian citizens can have access to health care that they need. We cannot continue like this in Nigeria, where the only hope for those who cannot afford expensive care for complicated ailments relies on begging the general public for money. That is what insurance is meant to do - pull in money from the general public and use it for those that fall sick.

Furthermore, it is very stupid for a politician to steal monies meant to equip our hospitals and yet if he has a stroke or a heart attack, there is no hospital in Nigeria that can save him. Flying to Germany will only make the Germans receive a dead corpse, for 6 hours is too long for emergency interventions. How did we get to this quagmire where Nigerians fly all over the world to get the most basic of even nursing care? This must change! There is no single Nigerian Teaching hospital today that has a defibrillator. A defibrillator can literally\ bring someone back to life. How can this stupidity be described?

Nairaland must at least take a break from promoting useless topics like "nude this" and "big butt" that, and start using their website to advocate for favorable courses.

I can assure you that if the status quo on health care remains they way it is, many of you reading this will die of very preventable or manageable causes. Until something is done urgently, all of us remain in a cesspit of a doomed health system!

U shouldn't blame the man though I believe he is also personally reponsible for his problems. The 1st thing that caught my attention is his celebrity lifestyle; 3 wives? How come. Wetin U wan use 3 wives do for this economic dispensation... Most celebrities lavish money anyhow forgetting that tomorrow is there. I know of someone in d same situation. When she become a pauper, insteady of her to start living within her means until she finally bounce back. She instead choose to be borrowing money from friends and families, and even resort to hanging out with Aristos just to maintain her celeb lifestyle. Who is she fooling?
I think our govt should share d blame also. Had it been that we have good health structure, no one will be talking of going to India for checkup. OJB might not have the money to be shuffling btween Nigeria and India for checkup... I pray he get better soon.

let me address the 2issues u raised. The first is the 3 wives he has ,let me try and clarify some facts on this ,he only has one wife living with him and infact she was the one that donated one of her kidneys to him. The number of wives he has is not an issue here ,he can have 10wives that doesn't deteriorate his condition. It is obvious u didn't follow the ojb saga last year. But I know what I am saying when I said he was playing smart and clever with his health. On the issue of kidney transfer ,it is on record that the operation can be done successfully here in nigeria in at least 7 to 10 hospitals at a much cheaper cost than going to india . Let me just refresh ur mind on this ojb saga last year ,many believe ojb didn't spend half of the money he got on what he said he wanted to use it for . Believe me it will be difficult for him to call ppl to give or donate money for him now.
