Your one million bonanza will not last one week in your hands because people that create anything of value will just jack up prices and you will be back at square one, a poor lazy Nigerian looking for a cheap way out. |

BRAV0O:You don't solve economic problems by dashing out money anyhow. It's like this... Money its a valuable means that is used in exchange for goods and services in an economy. Every goods and services have corresponding value of which the money is used in purchase. Now if you share N1m to every family with no resultant increase in the quantity of goods and services in the economy, you have a problem of high demand of goods/services because there is "money" in the system, but low quantity of goods and services to be supplied. Hence, the merchant will have no choice but to increase the cost of the goods and services, by so doing affordability becomes challenging for consumers despite having "enough" money. You have a situation of too much money in circulation with relatively low buying power. Oh bros, you have a difficult situation and an economic crises. In fact, the value of the country's currency will have no choice but to depreciate. The country citizens not only goes back to economic trouble, but a situation worse than what they were before the sharing of one million each. Hope you get it? |

BRAV0O:America indeed have social benefit for its unemployed citizens and some group. These people are paid stipends monthly and not thousands of dollars. The beneficiary of the programs are very minute within the American economy. The Americans also has corressponding industries that produces goods and services plus they export some of these goods. What they do is that rather than give people money, they created conducive environment for investment and work, along with favorable policies to ensure that American citizens are employed. This results in productive society and increase in the quantity of goods and services in the economy. So whatevr stipends paid to those unemployed citizens, it doesn't yield to excess money in circulation with low quantity of goods in the market. In fact, the market still seek for more buyers because the quantity of goods to be supplied is more than those demanded within the economy, hence, they result to export. UAE pays emirati citizens good amount of money. The UAE situation is such that it has sooooooo many investors and foreign workers engaging in productive activities in the country. In fact, foreigners are more in population than citizens. The government give out money to the citizens and some of them invests in the economy. Because UAE is productive and conducive for business, more and more goods and services are produced on daily basis, the people living within the emirate could not consume them all despite that government pays a section of citizens, hence, demand is lower than quantity of goods produced. They resort to export of their products and services. Nigeria has no conducive environment. We don't produce but we import and consume. Our local market is not even enough to satisfy our local demands in this our present poor state, not to talk of when more money is in the hands of people. We have too many unemployed and under-employed. Adopting such policies is tantamount to economic suicide that may take 100years to recover. You get now? |

Assume 20 people per family. No of families = 175,000,000/20 = 8,750,000 If each is paid N1,000,000. Total Amount required is 8,750,000 X N1,000,000. = N8,750,000,000,000.00 N8.75 Trillion sir. @OP, stop being mentally lazy Get up and think. You can survive without government handout. By the way, you think N1,000,000 is a lot of money? You make me laugh. |

barcanista:You omitted to let him know there are QUALIFYING criteria for getting the welfare benefit and most people who fall into the welfare TRAP end up so dependent they don't get out of it and live in the slums and ghettos of America and Europe, which to BLACK African buffoons is better than living in their villages and cities working HARD and thinking SMART to create value and produce real items so they are not treated (as a GROUP and as individuals) like the SCUMBAGS of this world ![]() |

barcanista:yea I get somehow but I still won't join you to assume it won't work, nigeria is gradually going towards that state and more people are peddling such mentality day by day the way you actually explain america types of policy as if its not that important meanwhile is a kind of support from my own point of view and to think of it the reason why an average nigerian will not have access to some kind of support be it monetary fund or any kind of health benefit from the govt still baffle me" think of the billions of dollars spend on millitant for amnesty and with all your economist analysis what u don't understand is that the world we ar in is such an expensive world, the world is so expensive this days in such that given 1mill N each to every family won't still change anything to be realistic what kind of policy do u think nigeria govt could adopt in the absence of that ? |
| Re: Why Can't The Nigerian Government Give Each Family 1 Million Naira? by Nobody: 10:31am On May 12, 2015 |
BRAV0O:Nobody spends billions of dollars on any amnesty. How much is our revenue btw? What percentage is shared among States, FG and LGAs that "billions of dollars" will be spent on militants? Please get figures right. Though I don't believe in the amnesty stuff, rather developmental and empowerment programs shd have been pursued-but NDDC is for such purpose and has been total failure. What government should do is adopt Fiscal Federalism/resource control to allow every federating unit socio-economic power to determine their growth and development. |
| Re: Why Can't The Nigerian Government Give Each Family 1 Million Naira? by babadee1(m): 11:07am On May 12, 2015 |
Assuming that all the money Nigeria has ever earned since independence was saved up and never spent, it still would not be enough to do this. Besides there is a limit to what good government welfare can do. Just handing out money like that to families, especially such large sums of money is simply irresponsible. |
| Re: Why Can't The Nigerian Government Give Each Family 1 Million Naira? by BRAV0O(m): 11:21am On May 12, 2015 |
barcanista:although I can't really state the figures being spend on those militant for amnesty which they are still spending any way that's non of my business, you no I was just thinking what if our govt can adopt any of those policy mention that's one of our biggest problem we never try anything that's why I won't support your stand on 1million sharing to all family , it could work ' in fact its like a petting change to support her family instead of all the lavish spending don't u think ? |
| Re: Why Can't The Nigerian Government Give Each Family 1 Million Naira? by anonimi: 12:11pm On May 12, 2015 |
barcanista:You should also point out the connection between the amnesty and the Niger Delta oil revenue. The militants were granted amnesty by Yar'Adua so that MORE oil can flow for sharing by the 36 states and 774 LGAs. |

Aflowz:What you're proposing is not unconnected to what Tinubu is proposing as a solution to end poverty in Nigeria. However, yours is not backed by a sound monetary idea or knowledge. People must work for money and money must be scarce. That's how money stays valuable. |
