He Does Not Have Money For Hosting And Domain Name. What Should He Do? by akagson: 2:50pm On May 12, 2015
I want to start a WordPress blog. Considering that I'm not assured that I'll be having the money to pay for domain name and hosting for every month, what should I do. Any cheap alternative?
Re: He Does Not Have Money For Hosting And Domain Name. What Should He Do? by youngsky: 3:04pm On May 12, 2015
You should go to wapka.mobi for hosting and go to dot.tk for domain. No charges for the both. For more in info you are free to contact me on youngskybigboy@ gmail . Com

Yes... As he said above, wapka is the best alternative you could ever think about, wapka is really great in terms of developing mobile website, but mind you that's an alternative if you dont mind running a pc version on same domain though.

With little or no ideal, wapkans are currently designing proffessional site. And wapka is also known as one of the wapsite builders with strong and reliable hosting. (wapka host is in most case strong and better than some premium host e.g arvixe)

Am not a wapmaster, but this are one of the true information i have been able to gather from my past.

Hi akagson

If you want to make money from your blog don't go for free or subdomains, it will make your site seem cheap and people will not take you too seriously.

There are 2 domain providers I can offer you that are not monthly payments but yearly payments just save up the little pannies then when you have enough patronize them

SmartWeb dot com dot ng N2500 yearly robust platform with WordPress and everything (recommended)

NameCheap dot com N1600 yearly. Even though this one is cheap I am fairly new to it so I cannot give you the low down sorry.

Then when you have your hosting. You can put affiliate products on it to generate an income. But you must take the project seriously to make that happen.

When you have set up your hosting contact me again and I will show you how you can make a living form you blog smiley

Thanks, Ben Joe. I will like the idea you are passing across. The Smartweb, the N2500 is it for both the hosting and domain name? Are they reliable enough (because it seems like a Naija company)?
Also, the NameCheap, do they provide me with hosting too?

P.S.- You made use of "dot com" in place of ".com". Does Nairaland penalize for posting direct links? *just curious*

Domain names are paid for per annum, and it is too cheap to be contemplated. About 2k per year. Some TLDs are more expensive.

Hosting on the other hand can be paid once a month, once a year, or at longer intervals depending on how big your budget is. Regular hosts charge about $5 per month for their cheapest plan, which is ~ N900.

There are numerous free webhosts available though, in case you are willing to consider those. x10hosting.com is a good example.

Ok first don't go for free hosting. Going for free hosting when you are trying to create a professional image is not a good idea.

Like our brothers have mentioned hosting is not expensive, even if you don't have any money now you can save up pennies until you are ready to go.

I also suggest you get a bulk of good articles ready for your pro site so you can hit the floor running people want to see plenty of content that helps them solve problems - that's where you focus attention should be create articles that satisfy a need.

SmartWebNG is a Nigerian company yes. Just because it is from our country doesn't mean its no good. it has over 100,000 clients and has been around for over 10 years don't be afraid. I have found that some of their packages are more robust than that of many foreign hosts I have used in the past.

When you purchase the hosting you get the domain free yes, just make sure you don't accidently click on any of the addons you don't want to pay for and you select the correct hosting package (the one you want is right at the bottom).

I have been penalized once or twice yes for putting links in my posts so now I don't try. If people want me to give them addresses now I just tell them to email me instead.

NameCheap is relatively new to me. I got it from a Nairalander here I knew there would be some who might want hosting at that price.

They support WordPress and I think they also support PHP 5 but you are going to have to snoop around the site and investigate for yourself.

I disagree with you bro, users dont visit website based on the "platform it is hosted". They will only tend and become active to your site if you give them what they what not excluding quality content which is king.

Thanks a lot, bro. I'll go with your advice. Perhaps, I should start now gathering contents so that when I'm ready, I'll come out with a bang. One other issue I'll be having now is "niche selection" - as it's called - and content generation. I don't know which niche I can readily go into that is profitable, and how to generate ideas on what to write or get topics on what to write on. I see all these Nigerian "entertainment bloggers" and you know the type of things they blog about. That's not what I'll like to do. I mean "real" blogging. What are the available areas of blogging available, and how can one generate regular contents to blog about. Not forgetting how the blog can be monetized as well.
Re: He Does Not Have Money For Hosting And Domain Name. What Should He Do? by Ben1975(m): 10:14am On May 13, 2015
Due to my experience I have noted this to be the case. Have you seen any major league successful bloggers on free accounts? Ever wondered why? Go wide and research you will discover that all experts will tell you the same thing. Want to be taken seriously as a blogger? Get your own domain.

Do a Google search. I have been on the internet for about 18 years and I have interacted with many experts and successful internet marketers as well as my own experience. So this is not just some blind opinion.

there are many great niches out there while some are saturated. entertainment is saturated because alot of copy & paste bloggers r there, some few good niche you can find yyourself in that are not over saturated are health, domain names (selling, buying, domain parking) , dog blogging, how-tos... there are many of them. n make sure you dont practice multi niche bblogging except you want to allow guest post. FYI I got this info because I was once in your shoe, I hosted and kept at it but it was a multiniche, I got frustrated when things are not going my way. my.alexa once dropped down to 1million but its a different story now. I built my blog myself cos WP is overrated though its good for beginners and companies who dont want to recruit web developers or managers but today the blog is going out..I'm.firing back on my most -loved niche where I can function most.

Here is a little exercise for you:

Get a sheet of paper draw three columns

In column one are all the things you really love and are knowledgeable on or would really like to learn

In column three are pressing problems that people really need addressing that can be sorted on the internet

Then in column number two you marry the two sides together to find your ultimate blogging business. In column two is the arena you are most naturally comfortable in.

Even in an area where there is saturation if you have a USP (Unique Selling Point) you can set up shop. Find an angle that makes you different from everybody else. If you don't you may come off as manufactured or even insincere.

Thank you for your excellent post Danyl

You post is yet another example that if people want to make a success of any business online they cannot treat it like a hobby they have to take it seriously and handle any set backs and obstacles along the way or they won't get anywhere.

what is your area of profession? e.g doctor can only write about medical issues. question and answer. counselling.

choose your profession and what you have joy in. technology like garget so on so forth. I can see you don't have the thing in you. because this thing takes patient. you are already talking of monetizing when you ave not even started.

you will need a laptop not smart phone.

by the way can you survive 2 years without making 10 $?

You don't have $1.99(400naira) for domain name? you have never heard of free webhost like 000webhost? pay for a domanin name it is less than what you spend on a chick that would be someone else's wife in future. then get the nameservers for the domain and go to your free webhost and redirect its nameserver to it.

**oops just seeing that you want a wordpress site***
