The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday ratified President Goodluck Jonathan’s anticipatory approvals for four new projects in the Niger Delta region at the sum of N30.983 billion. The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Steve Oru, disclosed this to State House correspondents after the council meeting which was presided over by Jonathan. This was barely two weeks to the end of the incumbent administration. The projects were the construction of the Zarama-Okodia Iseme Road in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State awarded to Messrs Eneko Nigeria Limited in the sum of N5. 923 billion with a completion period of 18 months and the Agadagba-Akotoko-Iyasa-Ovia Road and Bridge in Irele Local Government of Ondo State in favour of CGC Nigeria Limited in the sum of N15.628 billion. Others were the construction of the Amasoma-Egbedi Road in Kolokuma Okpokuma Local Government of Bayelsa State awarded to Messrs Dantu Construction Nigeria Limited in the sum of N2.767 billion with a completion period of 18 months and the Ofagbe-Udeze-Ozoro Road in Isoko-North and Isoko South Local Government Areas of Delta State. The minister explained that Jonathan had, late last year, given anticipatory approvals to the projects which were to be executed in areas within his (president’s) geo-political zone. Asked the completion stages of the numerous East-West Road projects on which billions of naira had been spent within the last four years, the minister said: “The East-West Road has four sections. Most of the sections have virtually been completed. Section One is 99 percent completed. “Section two, we have a bridge problem and about 90 percent is also completed...Everything put together, we can reasonably say that about 90 percent is completed. We may likely go on tour of the projects within the next 10 days.” Daily Trust had reported on December 31st of last year that nearly half the N1.6 trillion 2014 capital votes went to the South-South; while the North-East zone got N23.767bn, the least. The president had on January 7 described the publication as a negative campaign against him and his administration, denying that there was an uneven distribution of projects by the Federal Executive Council. Jonathan had also said that he had directed all his ministers to investigate the publication and explain the reasons to him, if the report was true. But up till now, the outcome of the investigation on the publication has not been made public. Source: http://dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/54711-jonathan-approves-n31bn-new-projects-for-niger-delta |

Story. What did he build for his people and Igbos ? Let's put it straight, the infrastructural deficit in Nigeria is alarming unlike some developed parts of China where one sees many empty built up unoccupied buildings with complete amenities for human livelihood. Only Akwa Ibom is the state where one looks and sees quality development happening owing to the huge state allocation. |

I was banned for expressing my humble opinion and these mods have no bearing to justify their action. I see lots of hates and tribalism from certain people and they walk. I am sensitive to these dealings, actions and violation of such principles that govern this forum. Please stop being biased. Thank you.(proudly Igbo). |

Well, if you ask me, I see no problem here. Niger Delta or not, it is all part of Nigeria. My only prayer is that the money is not simply embezzled in their last minute stealing frenzy. |

coolzeal:My dear don't mind them, that was how I was banned because I was supporting Jonathan, I don't even care if they ban me or not. I will always say my mind and will insult who ever that deserve it. Yes I agree with you that the mods are yorubas, can you imagine the silly and insultive topics about igbo and they do nothing about it, nonsense. Proudly igbo girl, haters should go and die. |

Some animals will come here to insult Jonathan. Anybody insulting Jonathan should remember that Jonathan is better than their father because there father will never smell Aso rock, let alone becoming president, even their generation will not even smell Aso rock. Jonathan is a hero and nothing will change that. Some children on nairaland lacks home training like seriously. |
