“We have decided to surrender,” coup leader General Godefroid Niyombare also said by telephone, adding that troops loyal to the president were approaching him. “I hope they won’t kill us,” he added. It was unclear what happened to him. This guy is a learner, he will likely be shot |

That General is such a joke!!!, how would u execute a coup without holding the presidential Palace, government radio and television networks.? All he could lay claim was holding the airport which any bloody civilian could do by packing a bus on the run way. He went on a private radio station to announce a coup that was not in existence. That coup was dead on arrival. When you execute a coup, u declare a curfew to test your authority..... To know whether u are in charge or not. He is learning it the hard way.... Besides no coup is planned in the country it is executed that too I think was lacking.. |

Ashleyma77:Surrendering to your captor and being caught by your captor; I don't see the difference, the Captor is still superior, the winner and in-charge. |

good ke, na death penalty. Engaging in an unplanned and notwell surpported coup is the worst mistake any man can ever make.[/quote]We only die once. Mandela knew he might be killed but thank goodness he believed in the struggle despite the dire consequences!!! The principle here is that the coup plotters were protesting the manipulation of the constitution for THIRD TERM.!!! The Current president needs to step down and like other good leaders around the world ----the country is greater than an individual ! Too much greed in African countries with corrupt leaders wanting to stay in power for eternity. More African countries need to speak against this trend as it is destabilizing the regions/continent. Too many wars and grief as a result of GREED of so called leaders. What makes anyone of these arrogant African leaders think their respective countries cannot find anyone better ----. Every citizen of the country should abide by the constitution and have a chance at any political office by ballots. This African madness of perpertuating oneself in office must STOP !! |
