7. The State Department should revisit the establishment of a Consulate General in northern Nigeria, probably in Kano. Nigeria has Africa's largest Muslim population, concentrated in the northern region, and has the fifth largest Muslim population in the world. The United States has very little presence, access or influence in the north. Secretary Clinton approved the opening of a consulate in the north in 2009. The effort should be revisited as quickly as possible. This election was all about returning the North to power continuing in the path of fraudulently lopsided political structure that the British bequeathed Nigeria in favor of the north. Its a good thing that although we have always known this they(British/Americans) are showing their hands now so that those in the south-south and south-east will drop the self denials that these people have even the slightest bit of their interest at heart. As a state it is expected that your self interests come first but in this case we would have expected them to pursue their enlightened self interest but clearly they have continued the age old self destructive pattern of engendering in many (almost every country they can influence or interact with) political situations that benefit far too little in the short term and cause them a lot of pain in the long run. We claim that our politicians in this country do not learn but even in these countries they clearly do not learn at least in the area of foreign policy. THE TIME OF RECKONING IS COMING. |

CSTR2:People are no longer running away to the U.S. to live because they've become a little more lenient with their visas, still they need more opening. Let's say you give someone a 5yr multiple visa, what's that person gonna be doing running away? |

The United States opening an Embassy in Northern Nigeria will simply translate to a new form of stronger, more organized and better armed terrorism appearing within next two years. If that happens i really doubt Nigeria would survive it . |
