when you talk about making money in quantum, it has a zero connection with ur GP.

Having good grades gets u into the civil service fast, denying the fellow a chance towards financial freedom...

GOOD ONE, NOT THE ONE THAT WILL CONDEMN 2.2 NOT MINDING THAT 3<= GPA <= 3.49 IS STILL PART OF 2.2. OR IS IT EASY TO GET 3?

the president of your country has first class abi? Dangote has first class abi? Abi Bill gate or carlos slim, the richest men in africa are first class graduates? When you graduate with a very high GPA, all your mindset would be to go find a very good job because you can't just let that fantastic GPA go to waste. I repeat, people with high GPAs would always be under people with low GPAs. That's the way the world works so you better deal with it.

Very true.

Nobody really wants a low GPA, however those with low GPA end up creating something productive for themselves since they know the opportunity of getting a job won't be as easy as the person with a high GPA. At the long run most of them become so successful that they employ the 1st class ones to work for them.

GPAs is not that important but is a good thing u have a good or high GPA.
If u're going to be an enterpreneur after school, then ur GPA wont be important what matters is the certificate that shows u're a graduate.
In this country and its wahala, it is best u're boss of yourself i.e self-employed,if u really wanna make it big in life.

wouldn't mind being the first to bag a first class and better than those you mentioned though...

But still come to think of it, having a high CGPA guarantees that you will live an healthy live, and on the other hand, a low CGPA has a three way traffic... those you mentioned above, those you forgot to mention who are suffering and regretting not having good grades, and those who also live an healthy life...

Lets be realistic here...

Please read what he posted again and be faithfully tell if theres any pinch of lie in it....

Those people he listed are people most of us pray to be as rich as... yet they didnt have a First Class... Sometimes i pray, if not having a first class makes one that rich and famous, then i will never make a First Class.

The fact is... if you're striving for a First Class or High GPA, you would be actually aiming to work in one of the big companies in the world.

That CGPA, you dont need it if you're gonna be a determined entrepreneur. If you really are, you would make one of those Big companies the First Class holders strive to work with!

#Or dont you wish to work with Microsoft? ot Dangote? whos founder didnt make a First Class.

#takes a bow.

U are quite right but this happens 1 in every 50.D fact is high GPA makes one be at an advantage of getting jobs dat will enable one to get capital for business. People with poor grades who eventually succeed are those with strong determination, connection or from rich family. There are many frusrtrated graduates with no hope because of poor grades. U go at least get hope if u get good grade. Nothwithstanding, there are some examples of successful people with poor grades, but if u think u wanna have poor grades and be successful lik dem u need to ask urself these questions;
1)do u av d same level of agression and determination?
2)will u av d same kind of support they must av had?
3)do u av d same kind of connection?
Many of u are quick to mention bill gates, d man didnt av grades but he didnt joke with learning. He read and learnt alot. Dats d secret-learning.

people would high GPAs would always be under people with low GPA. GPAs are crap.

Your assertion is not entirely true.
However, it is true that being under or above does not depend on on our GPAs but that doesn't mean that "people would high GPAs would always be under people with low GPA"

Dangote, Bill Gates, Carlos Sllim and any other person you wish to mention did not become rich and successful because they had low GPAs. They became successful because they worked hard. Whereas MOST students have low GPAs because they are LAZY & NOT-INNOVATIVE.
So, people with high GPAs would NOT always be under people with low GPAs rather lazy guys will always be under hardworking guys.

Let me tell all the gpa hoarders something not that I did badly in school myself but I have people who did better than I did academically in school then. Today through hard work I'm doing way better than them in life. sometimes when you hear them speak especially on the class forums you can't help but wonder "but how did they say this one graduated better than me?"

Had one who graduated with a first class in law and of course used that to bully his way into a top school in the UK. I didn't hear him bragging about his academic records in the UK instead it's still the fact that he graduated first class in Nigeria he keeps refering to.
No problem.
Got involved with the guy on some deals here in Nigeria after he got back. No one not one of them made sense so so f - up every time came and said he had one deal. tried to follow through with him as per se na first class graduate I have him more credit than I should have got clients ready to close deal on getting to the location I swear I almost died with shame na nonsense deal the mumu arranged and even at that was still trying to claim nonsense with the f - up.
Me I've learnt o if the person no dey street smart if he likes let him have more degrees than a thermometer I'm not dealing with you.

GPA that they get based on ability to cram! shior

Well After all my readings, night class, burnt candles i manage to garner a cgpa of 3.51 then my happiness of making second class upper was cut short when i saw my cgpa as compiled by my department as 3.41, All avenues to correct it was negative, i have to accept the cgpa.

Most of the girls that wrote from me, made 2.1, even those i taught in my class. I strongly want cgpa to be scrapped cos i cant believe that a brainy dude like me having 3.41 will be placed on same class of degree with corky guys that do not attend lectures but rely on expo to make 2.51.
sorry bro if I may ask which sch is that?

My problem is that people who are doing well academically or who did well academically will hardly tell you CGPA is nothing. How can you tell me eating fish is not good when you've not ate one?

If your CGPA should be 3.51 then take it up with your department. You worked for your grade and should not be deprived of it. That said, stop thinking you are better than some other people who made a 2:2.

I am better than them when compared to amount of seriousness, hardwork i put in to pass exams and become knowledgeable in the subject matter taught for the section.

My take on this is "whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well". Therefore, if you choose to go to school, get the best of grade that you can whether or not you would use it or not.
