How ever you look at it, Kidnapping by even a Pope for the purpose of sanctification is wrong.

If Buhari was not a worldly condemned Dictator, all he needed to do was to legally ask the UK Government to extradite Umaru Dikko and they would have diplomatically obliged. But to stage a 'kidnap', and go as far as 'drug' and then 'crate' a human being is crime against human.

2015 is NOT 1984. And Buhari will soon enough realize that his experience with 150 cows in Daura isnt what is required to run a complex democratic nation. I think Buhari should resign on May 30th after swearing-in on May 29th. Because his dream of being a President has been achieved. We know there is nothing better he can do. He has no certificates.

This was one of the illegalities and human right abuses that endeared buhari to yorubas and hausas. GEJ was seen as not fighting corruption, because he ran his government in a democratic period, where respect for human right is sacred a paramount. Buhari will have to obey democratic rules, or else he'll have many court cases hanging around his neck. It is more easier to rule under a military dictatorship, than to rule under a democratic system. Buhari and those who voted for him shall soon realize this facts. Its not about opening your mouth wide to shout "CHANGE".

Danjuma made his proposals, which sounded attractive. He said he could bring Umaru Dikko back using his Israeli connections. First, he asked NSO to provide him with fake passports of Umaru Dikko, Richard Akinjide, Saleh Jambo and Adisa Akinloye. In addition, he asked for fake drivers licences.

These were secured and delivered to Danjuma at his Victoria Island residence. Next he wrote that he needed some dollars to be paid into his personal account. The NSO also obliged. Initially, an NAF C-130 aircraft was to be used to shuttle between New York and Stansted airport. The idea was aborted because in the event of failure, Nigeria would be directly incriminated. Therefore, a Boeing 707 cargo plane was arranged. The fugitives in USA were left alone; so he could concentrate on Umaru Dikko who was making the loudest noise.

It was almost a success except for the fact that the Israelis did not take into consideration Umaru Dikko’s security arrangement with his private secretary. Though the mission failed in principal, it all the same achieved limited success. Firstly, it proved that Nigeria was coming of age at least for attempting to carry out a daring action in a developed country like Britain. Secondly, the fugitives shrank into their shells and retracted their war of calumny against Nigerians who were feeling oppressed by the regime and were beginning to display resentful signs. But to Danjuma, it was a coup-de-grace because nobody connected him with it and his bank account swelled.

We are not going to kill or send them to long term jail, all we need is criminals to return the money they stole with 50% interest.

That was done, but the British did not bulge and claimed not to have seen Dikko, while providing diplomatic protection to him. I am not applauding the kidnap attempt, but it goes a long way to show how determined Buhari was at that time to curb corruption. That kidnap attempt alone is a main reason many people are scared of Buhari today.
