Pls house, how does one check if an engine is good without the help of a mechanic. What are those things to look out for? |

1. If it's steams, it is a sign of complete combustion. 2. You can do oil test. 3. Even mechanics do try ur luck. Listen to the sound if there is any cracking sound. 4. Drive the car. U can know from the movement. All this are 70% probability. It's possible there are minor salient issues that all the test above will not notice. Such as weak gasket, weak oil pump etc. All this will be noticed after continous usuage |

What of black smoke from exhaust (not thick tho) and water dropping from exhaust? What are the meaning of these? Pls explain further on "oil test". |

chaikie:Look, smell, touch, listen. A lot of things you can't just read up. ^^^ P.S Water will come out of the exhaust of a worn out engine. |
