Let it be known to over 2millions nairalanders that I @Built2last support the removal of the Subsidy..GMB, please remove subsidy..fuel is so scarce that no body remembers that official price is 87 naira...abeg remove it..even my 3 year old son now knows the word subsidy...

From closing early,if the fuel situation is not ameliorated,they will shutdown and other banks will follow suit for same reason which is beyond their control.There will be serious economic and social problems if this happens.How can any modern economy survive without banking transactions.

We're living in a market economy, in a democratic country.
If Mama Nkechi decides to close her little shop at the junction, nobody can force her to open. Same with Iya Lukmon closing her bukateria.

Whether they collected money from government "Poverty Alleviation Program" is immaterial. Fuel marketers are not different.

I remember rice depots being opened by force and task force going to markets and forcing sellers to sell rice/beans at giveway prices in 1984.
That was a military dictatorship, not democracy.

I am not surprised at all, it has been at the heart of GEJ to remove subsidy...1/4 of our annual budget goes into subsidy the suffering is much but this may make GMB consider removing it more seriously.

I saw this coming because banks practically depend on diesel to operate.

We are headed for a total shutdown Once telcom and Banks shut down thats all.
We need banks and ATMs to get money to buy the fuel even if its black market.

We are in for a long thing. I know GMB will not pay any bloody marketer a dime. He will first scrutinise all documents before him, then, take best decision.

The common man will suffer this more.

Civil servants
Okada riders
Keke riders
Women who grind things in the market.

Most banks use diesel, there is no subsidy on diesel, NUPENG is on strike, use ur fvcking head.

Majority of ATMs in Naija run on inverters alternative enough?
how i wish you know how much a solar panel and amplifier cost.
They still need AGo to charge the inverters, who will supply it to them?

You are equating unending "Price Increase",..... with "Subsidy removal"! [/b] grin

The two are different and l will do the explaining... once.

In the name of "subsidy removal", OBJ's government INCREASED the price of fuel Nine times (9) in his eight years of governance.
Each time there was an increase, the same "reason/excuse" that was given is SUBSIDY REMOVAL! (just as you are still singing in 2015!)

Now ask yourself, how much is the real cost of a litre of Petrol (production, refinement, transportation costs, e.t.c), that such increases NEVER get rid of this evil called "subsidy"?

For example, if the total cost of production was #50, to get the fuel to the Petrol Station, and you are selling it to Nigerians at #87, you are making profit and to talk of "subsidy" at that point is CRIMINAL.
Remember Jonathan himself said something about "CABALS" who make money of this fuel Subsidy problems?

The bottom line is that we are paying way too much above the cost of production, for the Petrol ALREADY hence when people say there is no subsidy, this is what they are referring to. Buhari knows this as well

Now, successive Govts, including ~~Good~~ Badluck Jonathan, have invested in "Private Refineries" outside Nigeria and these "Cabals" steal our Crude Oil, take it to their "private Refinery" to refine and bring it back to Nigeria.... and want a higher price for it!
That is "SUBSIDY"! That is why they ensured that our own Refineries will NEVER work undecided

Same goes for "Generator Importers" and the PHCN (Nepa) problem we have. wink

A second group of these CABALS, simply steal our already REFINED products (or underpay NNPC for it), load it on ships and sail on the Atlantic ocean for a few minutes, DO A U-TURN and call such fuel "imported fuel".... thereby "qualified" for "SUBSIDY"! shocked

These my friends are the issues Nigerian face!
SUBSIDY IS A SCAM by the CABALS. There is "nothing" to remove! Infact, Nigerians are owed a refund.... or are we the only country producing oil, why is venezuela not selling at such exorbitant rate to its citizens?

But then, who will see "awoof" money and would not claim it?
It is the duty of the Government, the President being its commander, to STOP these FRAUD.

I hope Buhari will be "ready and able" to JAIL these Criminals (being that this is a civilian Govt that does not rule by decrees!).

Anyone is free to deliberately or ignorantly wallow is self-deceit (mostly for "tribal and illiteracy" reasons) but no one can pretend not to know the TRUTH NOW.

This is getting scary...MTN, Airtel, Arik, Radio Stations and now GTB shocked

Even on a "normal" day, their banking hall is usually over-crowded. With this, you can imagine how it will be because of the early closure.

I pity their tellers and back-office staff. Anyway, it is high time that Nigerians start embracing online banking.
