People like Elder Orubebe should understand that Ijaw people are no fools. YES, we are fighting to end the fraudulent system that disfavors us but it doesn't mean we are blind to see other of our problems. Orubebe Sir, how many road network did you build as Minister of State for Niger Delta Affair (2008-2010) and Minister of Niger Delta Affair 2010-2014? Please, relax where you are and stop preaching "marginalisation". You were in government, you had the power to push then end of it but because of your own interest you remained like all is well.

@Topic: how do you expect us to fish when our waters have been polluted and fishes are going extinct? We shall continue to advocate for what is ours and end to marginalisation. If the State want us to fish, then they have to backoff from our waters so we can fish.
The struggle of the Niger Delta people should start with the likes of Orubebe, Buhari might not even meet him alive to be jailed, we will do justice in our own to show we don't joke with snitches and traitors. What stops Orubebe to own up and acknowledge defeat, that they have failed us.He thinks he is talking to fools. We are waiting for all the sellouts, including GEJ, they will all account for their deeds. God bless Nigeria!

Not only that they should stop drilling our oil...

bt ijaw still remain d richest tribe in Ss, In warri Ijaw owns 40% of d big big mansion...

Ijaw re nt poor,,,
I don't think you know what it means to have a rich society. What percentage of the entire population live in those mansions? The way some people talk some times, it is very irritating. Nigeria as a whole is one poor country, you are coming online to do village champion chest beating.

Hear the silly statement this elder statesman can say. Isn't he aware of the situation in Niger Delta region ? Why doesn't he buy his canoe and start fishing ?
Orubebe, you are also part of the problem.

the big question is- Can fishing significantly help improve the economy of the Ijaw Nation or SS or even Nigeriahuh....
Wen we talk about economy diversification, we really need to have an indepth knowledge about what exactly we are doing....i knw fishing can be done in very large scale, but according to u- which water u wan catch large fishesgrin...oyel water!!
The fishes don't have to be large. For years now, Titus has been producing canned sardines that is sold across the world without advert. How many of us know that it is produced by Morocco. Can't the ex militants, rather than buying costly houses, private jets and building universities outside Nigeria, think along this line?
Re: Ijaw People Must Return To Fishing –orubebe by nairaman66(m): 11:37am On May 25, 2015
He said, “The Petroleum Industry Bill makes it as a fundamental objective to disentitle oil producing communities of their rights. These communities will fight for their rights and when they fight for their rights, we are going to have increased regional instability which in a way will cause instability in the country.”
Is this man sensible at all?

u have a point!!!...wen i meant large fish, i mean in terms of number nt size, because most large fishes r nt very commercial like sharks, dolphins, who buys thathuh, except the westerns for tourism or research purposes......u made an excellent point- 'Titus sardines sells very well without any advert'...
Most rivers nd seas in the Niger Delta region r very polluted nd as such can't provide a suitable niche for 'water creatures'(that was 1 of the main reason that made militancy to start coupled with other similar issues), the very few remaining water bodies in SS can't really provide both the desirable SPECIE nd Quantity of fishes for Large Commercial purpose....
Hope u knw not all specie of fishes nd animals r in Nigeria(same with other countries)...we may nt even have 'sardine fish'(i have 4gotten d real name) in Nigeria.....but let them try Ist !!!!

All:
Aphorism of ancient Great Biafran Ancestors:

“onye na amaghi ebe mmiri bidoro mawa ya, agaghi ama ebe o kwusiri” (He who does not know when the rain began to beat him would not know when the rain stops).

The rain began to beat Biafrans in 1914 when the mentally deranged Lugard amalgamated the northern and southern protectorates into the contraption called the Zoo aka nigeria.

The Restoration of Biafra guarantees the real Freedom, the persistence of talk on resource control is for those weak in mind. The wise speak of Total Freedom therein lies all mother of the Solution.

THE GREATEST KILLER OF BLACK AFRICANS IS NOT MAN MADE DISEASE SUCH AS EBOLA BUT IGNORANCE AND INABILITY TO REASON...

What is a Nation?

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a nation is "a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular state or territory".

The simple question for those erroneously referring to themselves as Nigerians aka Big Foools out of ignorance is, does this definition of a nation apply to the British created human Zoo called Nigeria? If the answer is a resounding no, why then have these dim witted, half baked intellectuals insist on calling Nigeria....sorry the Zoo their nation?

Even in the next one billion years the British created zoo will never attain the status of nationhood.

Foolish man. Why cant he go do the fishing alone with his family?? Has he ever caught a fish in his life??

I wonder how they intend to do the fishing with the pollution of their water bodies as a result of illegal activities of hustlers in the creeks, not to mention the blowing up of pipelines by their sons and daughters who think by so doing, they hurt the Nigerian state resulting on unimaginable environmental degradation and pollution.

And to think this was the same idiat that almost cost us our country. angry
Like it or not, what he did thwarted Jega's original intention to rig Rivers election

ab.oki omenka, is not a deep thinker, he's still living in his self constructed fool paradise just like many fools that call themselves nigerians...very significant and relevant question to ask why're the majority of yorobbers, awusas, and foolanis afraid to stand on their feet?

"He said, “Despite being one of the largest producers of oil in this country, the Ijaw have suffered marginalisation and infrastructural neglect. More than 90 per cent of the communities have yet to be connected with network of roads. Linkage to the national grid for electricity is still a dream.”

No one disputes that. But the greatest irony is that one of your own has been up there for 6 years and the situation remains the same. Yet a few days ago, you wanted the same person to remain in office, chanting "Jega, you cannot continue". We will keep on harping on the point that having "one of your own in power" in Nigeria means nothing, unless he/she is a solid performer. I believe that the message is sinking in slowly.
.

True. GEJ spent much of his time doing projects in the North. I think FU Otuoke is the only major completed project in SE/SS. Second Niger Bridge is incomplete.

Was he a true patriot working up North believing in improving their lot OR was he trying to impress Northerners and get re-elected?
Re: Ijaw People Must Return To Fishing –orubebe by nduchucks:
Fishing ko, husbandry ni.

The fools have obtained over $40billion from the Feds in the past few years and should have established the largest fishing operation in the entire African continent, big enough to supply seafood to all of Africa and other countries. Instead of doing that, they looted all the funds and left the masses of the region in abject poverty.

As if to say Orubebe has no shame, and despite having billions of looted funds in his own personal account, he is now calling on the masses to go back to fishing. Meanwhile, the masses are undertrained, underfunded, and have no real chance of undertaking fishing on a commercial scale.

Orubebe, mgbo piafuka gi isi.

Wait o.
You mean the enfant terrible Elder Goodswill Orubebe of the Orube-being fame, the one and only Ijaw man that has been in charge of the Niger Delta affairs since 2008 till date?
He is the one now discovering that ND has no good road network, and should all go fishing in oil polluted waters.
What exactly did his office do with billions of naira budgeted for over the years?

Damn!!! When are we going to start lining up these criminally minded looters on a stake angry sad
Re: Ijaw People Must Return To Fishing –orubebe by repogirl(f): 12:52pm On May 25, 2015
Oh? It is now that you remember Ijaw people are fishermen?

During your time in office, you didn't remember that your people were fishermen? Is now that you don't have an office anymore or even the resources to set up the infrastructure needed to get this idea in motion, that you suddenly remembered.

Classic I'diot!!
