Jesusloveyou:I support our refineries be put back to function but there's subsidy bro...I don't like arguing blindly especially on matters whose technicalities, I don't understand... but you can read up the attached thread here... https://www.nairaland.com/2306903/why-refineries-cant-work-least http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ngige-seeks-privatisation-of-refineries/106735/ |

PassingShot:Who inflated those figures if its true bro? socialmediaman: bro...deregularization would have saved us the pain of this long article...NLC started a protest which was hijacked by political parties...and later culminated in deaths... You cannot fight corruption when you have no evidence because inasmuch as you know the marketer shortchanged you but how do you prove it beyond doubt in court....These things by marketers are just too easy to divert and make double profit..... Our experience in fertilizer abi agricultural sector would have been same here if Jonathan had succeeded with subsidy removal.... Most times, we become too sentimental that we lose our head.... Now, proffer solutions that are better than what Jonathan did....say the what and how plz |

Removal of the fuel subsidy is of course beneficial to Nigerians in the long term and Nigerians will only accept this if done by a committed government. The question therefore is that did Nigerians have that belief in this administration to put to use the proceeds from the removal in resolving the lingering problems we face? The answer remains NO. The President himself admitted knowledge of corruption in that sector during his campaign tours and requested an additional four years to deal with the issue. On the 28th of March the question was what this man couldn't do in 5+years can he do in 4? The answer to that question was seen clearly in result sheets across the country. This is where the PMB admin has an edge. If Buhari keys in to the goodwill he has with Nigerians at the moment, stops payment of the subsidy and demonstrates that will to fight the corruption in the oil sector then he will be using his supposed strength to his advantage. Corruption can't be fought by strengthening the EFCC and ICPC alone, introducing technology in strengthening the institutions is fitting. I believe that the picture will definitely be clearer in the first 30 days of the incoming admin. |

Truckpusher:I believe the best way to run government organizations in Nigeria is to try as much as possible to reach the target market/audience/benefactors directly. Have a website, make use of public forums, send people out to carry out surveys based on services offered by the said body, carry out online surveys, etc. In one way or the other, you must get useful data/info about the service you are rendering to the people. You don't have to depend on criminal minded Nigerians to successfully run such organizations. If from your research, it turns out that people are doing shady deals, you call them to order or query them. If it happens again, you issue sack letter. This country is not the kind you have someone handle your business without monitoring the folk. No matter how close the person is to you, if you give the person a free hand, s/he will run down your business. |

Whynotthetruth:I don't think there's any diplomatic way of explaining why government couldn't fight corruption except that it couldn't. Where is law enforcement in all these? And why were marketers docked in courts if there wasn't evidence? These things are verifiable, if you say you imported petrol, we can verify from source till destination and know how much you imported, So if the government was serious, it could do it, well, all that is in the past now and I care less what he couldn't do because I'm glad our countrymen took the right decision at the right time... |

Whynotthetruth:removal subsidy is not the long term solution to the fuel problem. WE NEED REFINERIES. GEJ/ PDP had 16 yrs to build and repair our refineries but they choose to do nothing. |

Raiders:Yes, it is not...but that's the only wise thing to do for now...though I see NLC as obstacle...the role of ACN/CPC back then maybe used to blackmail them now too... |
