I have a dell inspiron 5100 which is working well before but now when i put it on it displays d Dell sign then goes to the windows xp display it then goes black. I wil hear the sound of xp when it boots but the screen wil stil be black. If i off and switch on several times it is d same tin.
I cld remember that i was one day trying to instal a game software and the system hanged. So when it fail to respond i press the power switch to off it. I then put it on again, removed d game software and was just playing around and it just went black. Since then when i boot it, it displays the Dell sign and windows xp loading screen before going black.
Pls, kindly help me in diagnosing the problem with it. Thanks for ur reply.

Remove the memory and reseat it back .

i think ur OS has crashed

how good is ur battery life? Does ur system go off when power supply fails?

thanks for the reply. My battery lasts about 1 hour depending on what i am doing. No it does nt go off when power supply fails.

ok then, check if u have a flash drive or a CD in ur system. remove dem and restart again

i dont quite understand but d system has 2 memory slot

u know until a physical test is run, one cant really say whats happening but i think its either ur hard disk has crashed or ur screen is bad (dell laptops always have screen problems)
